@Gina Boosting. Can't do it myself, though he does look sweet and I could use the company.

@ajroach42 On my last rewatch, it struck me that it was replaced in the last two seasons by a different and better show, 'The Robert and Jeri Comedy Hour'.

Reminder: the monthly @BandCamp fundraiser to support artists who have lost income due to COVID-19 is on today (and there's a separate fundraiser coming up on June 19) https://daily.bandcamp.com/features/bandcamp-covid-19-fundraiserFor us old-school folks who still buy records, this is a good way to keep the music going and redistribute some money.

After a week of bright sunshine, it's been cloudy and rainy for several days. My pepper plants are all working hard to aim their solar panels at the sunlight that is available, in a way that they didn't when there was more sunlight to go around.

@selea A range:Hungarian Hot Wax, Dare Devil, Habanero Red, Devil's Tongue Red, Bode Red, Madame Jeannette and bell peppers. All in a high-latitude, sea-based climate without a greenhouse.I would not recommend growing Bode Red and Madame Jeannette under those conditions, but the others are doing well.

@selea It's a medium hot pepper for every day use. I harvested the seeds from two supermarket peppers and they came up great. We have a small back yard ourselves and all our peppers are in containers, as are our tomatoes. I sowed more than a hundred plants in my attic and almost all of them came up so the back yard is kind of full even after we gave away 30-40 plants.

@eecks Nice! Desktop or tablet? I've been doing some work in it and have been alternately impressed and frustrated.

@tek @nigeldgreen @rysiek Also, MacBook Airs from late 2014 or newer can run Catalina and can be picked up reasonably cheap. They will be usable for a few more years if you find one in good condition. My spouse bought one after she botched a repair on her little Acer notebook.

It's confirmed. I am the sort of person that needs to spend money on a self-surveillance tool so I can get things done. Three days into my trial of the Freedom app, I realized that I was calmer, my recorded hours at work matched the actual passage of time at work better and I was out a whole hour earlier. Getting shit done outside of work as well.

Interesting Facebook post from Anil Prasad urging artists whose copyrighted work is being held up by major labels to just go ahead and re-release it.https://www.facebook.com/innerviews/posts/10159503671608594This fits the frame of my own thinking about what copyright should be and what it should be for.

Money quote:"…Things are in such disarray in the world, that basically nobody's going to notice if musicians just put out their own back catalogs themselves without permission. The mega-conglomerate labels are now run by people in their twenties, and music released in the '70s, '80s and '90s isn't much different than music released in the '40s or '50s to these children. They have no interest in any of it."https://www.facebook.com/innerviews/posts/10159503671608594

I needed something printed out just after Spouse, who has the printer, had wiped and reinstalled her computer, and it took over an hour to get from there to having one sheet of paper printed correctly. This is one area where computing has definitely, measurably, regressed.

This is a great blog post on Pink Floyd's The Wall, which I've been meaning to listen to *properly* again ever since the Spray-tanned Superspreader's campaign rallies, but never got around to. https://literatemachine.com/2020/07/12/pink-floyds-the-wall-and-the-rise-of-the-alt-right/

I am now the owner of seven Apple Universal Docks. Er, this means I will have some to give away I guess. Unless one or more of them turn out to be defective.

Once again, my cat Pyewacket has stopped eating. He already gets pills to stimulate his appetite and I'm sure I got one of them into him this morning, but they're no longer working. He cries for food in general but refuses any specific food offered to him. He's had cat food, packaged soup for cats, chicken liver, ground chicken, all the stuff he usually loves. He refuses all of it and I'm pretty desperate. How to get him to eat until I get him to the vet?

My oldest uncle passed away two months ago in his eighties. What I didn't know about him is that he hoarded a whole bunch of gear all his life: analog and digital cameras, home audio and video recording devices, things that were antiques when he got them. We're going to go through some boxes of stuff to identify it and get it to good homes. We have no idea if any of it is valuable, but some of it should be interesting to some people here.

There's a suite of Super-8 equipment in there which we'll probably hold on to if it still works. The only footage of my Spouse's mother in existence is on Super-8 and she still has it, so we want to watch it.There should be historic footage of the city of Groningen in there as well.…Spouse is now going "Fuck yeah" at a Yeshiva camera.

Hello to you from the year 2017! I have updated my 2013 to High Sierra and most things seem to be working. Saying a fond farewell to Photoshop CS 4 and welcome back to Signal, to regular Chrome updates, and to Mastodon working on Chrome again. After I've done all the tidying up, I will see if recent versions of #Krita now work on this thing, or if it has had further library updates that still put it out of my reach.

Had to do sudo xattr -cr /Applications/Krita.app to remove a This App IS Damaged flag but once I did, it ran. Sucks that it defaults to a dark mode with low contrast, but I'll figure that out.#krita #HighSierra
