I made Japanese-styled curry today. I find it funny that this dish is a Norwegian interpretation of a Japanese interpretation of a British interpretation of an Indian dish xDI put a lot of stuff in it, including a homemade roux that eventually turned into a brown sauce when mixed with the water, mango chutney, and instant coffee

@hejsna @Livingmarble Not true. The metastudy included other kinds of viruses that are not as airborn as covid is. The study did a poor job explaining this and was therefore used to mistakenly claim that masks don't work when they do in fact work for covid and primarily airborn viruses. This video goes through the study in an easily digestible way and highlights its flaws.https://youtu.be/o15rOAUHmyQ

@futurebird Tbh, I feel like ActivityPub isn't really designed for DMs and shouldn't really be used for it in the first place. I see DMs here like posts that you just don't want to bother everyone with kinda.

Holy shit, so, Linus Tech Tips' main channel just got hacked (probably a phishing attack), and as a result they've gone from 15.3 million subscribers down to 1.82 million. This is bad. They could lose a lot of revenue from this which would seriously suck as they've been working on independent testing of manufacturer claims. Stuff we seriously need in an environment where manufacturers are being dishonest.I hope YouTube solves this issue and are able to restore their subscribers as well.

Edit: I found an instance that was open to hosting the video. Here's a link in case anyone's interested :)https://diode.zone/w/ryNi1aHxz2LMyKpeiw5qtFAnyone familiar with #PeerTube who could help me find an instance?Me and some other members of Kitsu make an #anime awards show yearly. We were going to upload it to YouTube but because of 5 separate 10-second long clips from some OP/EDs, they're blocking us from posting it. We want to upload the whole awards show unedited. Are there any PeerTube instances that is fitting for videos about anime in English? I couldn't find any while browsing the PeerTube list on the official website. The video is 45 minutes long and takes 5.8GB of storage.

So, Twitter made their algorithm open-source with a strong copyleft licence, AGPL-3.0. People are already spamming it with troll issues and PRs ... And this is where you'd think I would say that doing stuff like that is bad and so on. But no. I would actually encourage it. Not because "twitter bad" but because them making the algorithm open-source is a performative action. What? But it's AGPL-3.0 I hear you say. That's a great license, I hear you say! Yes, it is, but they require you to sign a Contributors License Agreement. While I haven't read Twitter's CLA terms myself (couldn't find it), these typically give the company all rights to the code you contributed, which also means that they can relicense the project at any time. That means that the AGPL-3.0 licence is practically pointless.I'd suggest that instead of spamming pointless BS about Twitter sucking (do that on Twitter instead and @ Elon when you do it), we should instead spam about how having to sign a CLA is predatory.Tell them to switch to using Developer Certificate of Origin (DCO) instead which is what actual FOSS projects like Linux uses. They're as simple as signing the git commit. DCO prevent the company from taking all the work contributors put in and making the software proprietary in the future.#Twitter #FOSS #OpenSource

The dial on our microwave from the 70s broke today. Considering making a 3D model of it and printing out a new one. They really don't make things the way they used to anymore. Imagine after 50 years of frequent use, the thing that broke was a plastic piece on the dial that adjusts the output. I hope it lasts another 50+ years.#RightToRepair #RightToRepairEurope

@izaya @eve I have the Audio Technica ATH-M50x and it has lasted me 8 years? It does have a design flaw that will eventually lead to the hinge stopping mechanism to break. However, I just 3D printed a fix for it and am still using them without issue.I've replaced the earpads once and need to do it again sometime soon (don't fall for it if you find earpads that claim better audio quality, they don't). And the cable is showing showing strong signs that it needs a replacement soon.To me it's important that a headset lasts long and is repairable, so that's why I can strongly recommend these despite the design flaw mentioned.

The KDE Plasma taskbar keeps crashing all the time ... I mean, KDE Plasma just feels really unstable in general. Perhaps it's because of Wayland+Nvidia, but blegh. I think I may just have to go back to GNOME with X11 and wait for Mutter to support VRR and to fix the remaining Wayland issues that I'm not getting with KWin. I'm really looking forward to when Wayland will actually work well on Nvidia.

@lore I mean, it was never about 5G in the first place. 5G was a scapegoat. Conspiracy theories are usually ludicrous. And they also usually support far-right ideologies. The unknown people in power is a thinly veiled slur for jews, muslims, black people, gay folks, trans folks, and any other marginalised group they feel like hating that day.

@iro_miya Thing is, I trust my ISP more than I trust VPNs. Maybe if I ran my own, I could consider it, but tbh, I don't feel it would be worth it.

@lustlion @mjdxp There have already been lawyers caught using LLMs because the LLM just dreamed up citations that did not exist.
