Whoa! I went to pick up some lunch and I wasn't the only person masked. Yes we were by far a tiny minority, but it was nice to not be the #lonemasker today.

And now I just read some masking sophistry on Twatter, high minded type, quite credentialed, telling everyone that KN95's don't work. Another masking sophist claims an unfitted N95 is as good as a bandana. Another expert chimes in with Breathe99 being akin to also a loose bandana. Some toxic fuck has the gall to zoom in on my masked picture to point out facial hair. Y'all suck. Every mitigation helps some, and quite likely a whole lot more than a bandana. If KN95's (regarded as N95 equivalents in much of Asia) are so shoddy, then we've been fucked from the start and nobody should even bother at this point. You will never ever on the face of this planet be able to get every store owner, every clerk, every nurse assistant, every schoolteacher, every student, every service worker, every travel agent, every airplane passenger, every concert goer to get a fit-tested N95 on a daily basis. While the authors' intended messaging might on some level have been intended as "instructive", it's simply not realistic and I also believe not truthful. Additionally every HCW I've known that masked in a fitted N95 did catch COVID anyways, because the window of exposure likely exceeded the very specific metric for which the specific N95 was specifically fitted for when they slightly smiled and ruined the perfect fit, so I don't really care what the guy has to say. I've been K/N95-ing and am among the last 5 people I know on the planet that hasn't had a symptomatic case.
