@mjog Theres all that. And at the same time, I think very few people understand what 'hate speech' actually is.For an example: "theres a higher percentage of criminals amongst people of different ethniticity than Danish, than there are amongst Native Danes. "

@mjog Say that aloud, and have your ass whupped verbally for being racist. No one will care that the statement has nothing to do with racism and everything to do with statistics. Maybe it's because it's the kind of thing racist politicians use to try and get power to enact their psychotic plans upon society. BUT: we still need to be able to talk about facts without choking the life out of every conversation by shouting: RACIST or HOMOPHOBE, etc.

@mjog And even then, one thing is the factual conversation. How do we solve such a problematic statistic for instance?Another thing is personal opinion, because people are ALLOWED to have those. And if you start a conversation with someone, remember that they are allowed to express theirs. What we need to be ever mindful of is that no matter the opinions, people should never be able to use those to justify damaging others. Love thy Neighbour, even if you disagree with him.

@popey When i started using ssh at first i desperately tried to find a way to save username and password, and of course ran into a brick wall. Having worked with windows and RDP for about a year I just couldn't comprehend something like this wouldn't be built in.Then I read about SSH keys. Then i set up my github with SSH keys, and almost anything else I can.It seems old school at first, but it really is incredibly, friggin awesome.

@popey I started using it in 2007. I recall downloading Gutsy Gibbon. It was magical. and computing was never the same for me again.I stumbled upon the ubuntuforums when I needed help with something, it was great. Here's to hoping I'll get a job at canonical at some time. ๐๏ธP.S. I love listening to your podcasts Mr. Pope even if we don't agree on a lot of things. Keep up the awesome work!

@nextcloud YES! for People who are capitalists first, everone below them is essentially (or should essentially be) only a means to make themselves richer.104 > 100, therefore they do it. Therefore it is worth it to them ๐๏ธ

@nextcloud I think google might be slightly better at security than a lot of people who selfhost. Privacy is another matter of course.

@popey I've installed dotnet via snap, and I must say the 'parallel' experimental feature is just great, allowing me to run several versions at once, but isolated from one another

@popey one of the people in my project group at University has an X220, though he uses Arch, btw. ๐๏ธThe other has a T450s. I'm a huge fan of that computer, what an excellent machine! I'm thinking of replacing my 2013 Asus Zenbook with one of those.I think it's awful Lenovo has started making its successors without the removable battery.

@popey I honestly detest the 'old' lenovo keyboards... Recall your recent UserError episode, where you mentioned the feel of a fork grinding over your teeth? ( ๐๏ธ ) thinking about describing the feel of those exact laptop keyboards brings that part of your podcast to mind...Sorry about that, wasn't a nice thing to mention, was it? ๐ฌ๏ธDid you actually like Unity, or were you one of those who rejoiced when Ubuntu changed back to Gnome?

@popey I concur. I was one of those who thought it was an upgrade. And though Mr. Wimpress and co. has done an excellent job turning Gnome 3 into something usable (20.04 really does look good) I am not certain that Unity did not have more potential. Anyhow, it does look rather aged these days, it's funny how quickly that happens ๐๏ธ
