Did I tell you I asked my ISP for a static IP address for my residential internet connection?A very nervous lady on a very bad line called me back yesterday. She told me that because I had so many devices on my connection that I'd need to upgrade to Enterprise Ethernet and I'd get a static IP.Honestly, I just told her to close the ticket and I'll put in another request and see if I can get someone who knows what they're doing.

@chris unsurprisingly, iiNet. They've done me a good deal and my current plan with them is pretty good.Everything is fine as long as I never have to ask them a question or seek support.Then all bets are off and it's anyone's guess what will happen - give them an opportunity to fuck up and they will grasp it with both hands.

I don't think I can garner enough support for a Eurovision sweepstake around here. Maybe there's an online one somewhere that interested tooters can use. Will try and find one. Or maybe I'll fire up the Ladbrokes app for a $5 giggle#Eurovision

@stux I think it's a surprise when people come to Australia that we really don't tip. Almost never. I think the only people that do are visitors. Or me when drunk and have actually received exceptional service.What we do have though is "penalty rates" where hospitality workers have to be paid overtime on public holidays. So the venues typically increase all prices by 10-15%.
