@futurebird I watched this ant carry this dead dragonfly for 10 minutes the other day. It was fascinating seeing that tiny insect lugging that giant corpse all by itself. I had no idea they could be so strong.

@futurebird They are very effective at framing support for dems as “uncool” or a betrayal of values. Challenging people’s bonafides, street cred, or values automatically puts people on the defensive, forcing them to spend time, energy, (and characters) on trying to justify their rationales and ad caveats to arguments to mitigate the impending retorts. Using kernels of truth is an effective tactic in manipulation.

@futurebird One thing I saw a lot of after he took over the platform was liberal, progressive, and centrist accounts (many of note) claiming he bought it because he’s stupid, got tricked into it, to use as a toy, or because he’s petty. All those things might be true, but they were adamant that anyone claiming he was doing it to subvert democracy or sway public opinion to the right was a ridiculous conspiracy theorist. Some of these people have no excuse for being that gullible.

@futurebird The country has been stuck in an abusive household for years. We are the kids being abused by a violent dad and siblings who take after dad. Passive mom has been telling us to quiet down and take it so as to not anger the abusers more. Years and years of being told to prioritize their needs, their desires and minimize our own. Make ourselves smaller. Accept and expect less. People are angry about it. They know it’s unfair. It’s exhausting.

@futurebird You’re more generous than I am because the cynic in me assumes they know he’s guilty, they just don’t care or don’t think the law should apply to him/them, but maybe some are legitimately bamboozled. I’m still not sure if it will break them out of the loop of this being evidence of an even bigger conspiracy. We can only hope.

@futurebird You can be feared or you can be loved, but you can’t be both. It doesn’t stop abusers from trying to use fear tactics to force you to pretend you love them though. Scary stuff.
