Genuine question for #security #infosec people. Is there any movement in the industry to standardise tests / requirements / software accreditation etc? Working for a software company myself, we regularly get asked about security of our software - and that's fine, happy to answer any questions. But the last 100 requests we've got from IT managers / Infosec people at different companies wanting information on our software, have asked us to meet 100 different security protocols, assessments or accreditations and EVERYONE has their own, unique form they want us to fill in. If I was a plumber, I'd sit one license accreditation, and then just show that to anyone I might work for and that would be that. It also means we're not going to pay some company to audit us and prove how secure and wonderful we are - because that particular audit would only keep one company happy. The next company would have a different audit we should have sat and a different form to fill in.

@m @jupiter_rowland Hey I just want to find other people who share my weird hobbies and interests - and mastodon makes that next to impossible unless said interest is something with several really large instances devoted entirely to it.

@apps That means, for instance, seeing all replies to your poll, even those from servers my instance has never heard of, right? Yes, definitely! One of the biggest shortcomings of Mastodon is how siloed everything is - It surprises many of us that if I search for #kittens, I only see SOME toots with that hashtag, or if I look at a toot, I won't necessarily see all replies - and worse, I don't have any idea that I'm not seeing all the relevant content.

Is there a free 2d room plan software which is easy to use? All the options I can find are online, and most just trials of monthly subscriptions - I need to plan a room layout once every few years, I just want something I can download which is easy to use. Many recommend Sweet Home 3d, which used to be open source, but isn't any more.LibreCalc and Qcad are both open source but full cad programs and not simple for room design.Surely there is something out there? Ideally something I can install locally. I don't even need fancy "shaped" items and definitely not brand items, I'm happy enough with a rectangle I can label as a table. I don't need a 3d render or anything.Excel works, but it freezes once you add more than a shape or two.(Image I found online, it doesn't even need to be this fancy)
