@dec_hl On the NEC PC-9801, you have another dillema. The drive you boot from is A: if it's the first hard disk (IIRC) or the first floppy disk. If you boot from floppy drive #2 however it becomes B:So on a PC-98, A: can be your first floppy if you boot from it or the first HDD if you boot from it, B: is your second floppy or first HDD if you have a single floppy and also your first HDD if you boot from a single floppy machine, and C: is your first floppy on a dual floppy machine if you boot from a floppy disk.So Japanese DOS programs when installing will ask for the HDD letter and not assume it's anything.

@cotton_dpad There's a lot of artists on Baraag (loli/shota), Pawoo (ditto or Japanese), and Misskey.io (Japanese) who usually have accounts elsewhere. There's plenty of small time artists or artists with multiple accounts on the fedi as while, but for the longest time the fedi was an afterthought at most for those who were not banned from Twitter.The thing is, a lot of the artists who were here on fedi did so because the fedi was either more popular where they live than in the anglosphere for a long time (Japanese), said artists get banned elsewhere (loli/shota), or both.at once (much of Baraag/Pawoo). This is also the truth about the fedi, a lot of the people are on the fedi either because it's not Twitter, or because they are unable to make a new Twitter account for some reason or another. That's also who sticks around the most IMHO, and historically this is the case for any non-mainstream platform. Nobody wants to join a website to whine about Musk or the Zucc daily and talk about using said website only.

@josemanuel @freemo @Moon @coolboymew @McMongoose @tomey When people join "free speech" websites in 2023, there's a very darn good reason they would IMO.The be yourself social media culture (or at least the impression of it as Tumblr was giving off despite being a facade) has given way to neopuritanism, which is being fought with other forms of it. A website protesting bad internet laws was saying that they should be blocked for the very same thing the other side wanted to pass those bills for. Not any other reason, but literally that.The fedi thrives in spite of this blocklisting, not because of it, just because Twitter is so much worse unless you're a firstname lastname boring NPC who is trying to get those like/retweet numbuhs up.

This can be seen online, with shit like the Zamii070 situation (artist harassed for drawing characters wrong) giving way to the endless DNI posting, faux morals/puritanism over NSFW art, and arguments that boil down to a mix of "stop drawing what I don't like" and "drawings have rights". This, this is why Japanese fedi instances are booming, and why some instances like varis are so militant about going after those who they see as bullying another JP artist into wiping his gallery and going dark, which keeps happening on Twitter. No seriously, it seems like Twitter has unreal amounts of drama in the art sphere.
