@Ricardus I've bought some stuff from them. It's mostly flimsy, but it works. No complaints.

@Ricardus My original worry was that they'd do something sketchy with my credit card info. So I bought a prepaid debit card to use as a test. No problems. They have a long delivery time, but provide tracking info.I've bought Arduinos, a kitchen laser thermometer, a dozen multimeters, etc. It all works. It's just fragile, probably QA rejects, or both. Bought a little freezer, even. Works fine. I tell people Temu is okay to deal with, just don't expect milspec gear.

@Ricardus @c0debabe Hurray! Temu can be a trove. Just be ready for about 10% of what you buy to arrive broken. Mostly, it's a godsend.

@aral Somehow, the resignation of a man making the equivalent of US$1,000,000 every year for at least the last six years just isn't the heart-rending act of contrition Mr. Davie appears to think it is.

@aral I suspect this sort of willful blindness arises from the belief that standing near rich people can make you money. Wall Streeters like to say, "Nobody ever got rich without making other people rich along the way." Well, even if that were true, nobody ever got rich without making even more people poor along the way.See, there's this pie...

@Ricardus The trouble with democracy is that the majority is sometimes wrong.

@Ricardus True. And, when influenced by culinary decadence, just as often. It is pancakes. Breakfast tomorrow should be pancakes. French toast is crap. Provender. Mere fuel.Pancakes, man.Let truth prevail over the masses.Pancakes.

@Ricardus I dunno... I have a lot of mixed feelings about that scene. The idea that there would be an actual fight between them is so far outside the limits imposed by the context they are in, that "cheating" seems like a rather quaint distinction when comparing a groin kick to any other form of attack. I mean, those two are in the "there ain't no rules anymore" zone at that point.FD: I actually went to Navy OCS (the one in Newport, not Pensacola).

@Ricardus Well, that's a big part of my own confusion. Would a Marine who was losing in personal combat rule out a groin kick? I sure hope not. If they had said, "Fight to first blood," or "no injuries," or something, okay. But this was way, waaay beyond the limits they were in. (Trust me, no OCS instructor would ever do this. They just wouldn't.) So "anything goes" fits. Also, Foley just wasn't going to let Zack quit. He HAD to win.FWIW, lots of formalized fighting styles teach groin kicks.
