It runs like a tank, hasn't needed any major repairs, won't spy on me, and won't brick on me if a software update fails. Plus, the costs of maintaining this vehicle are less than what it would be to buy a new car anyway. Oh, and it still gets good gas mileage so it's not killing me there either.

@Cbrooklyn112 They're good cars, aside from the handful of years with the ones that have the manual transmission that automatically shifts itself. I forget which years it is, but there's a recall on them to fix an issue where it randomly skips gears &/or won't shift into reverse.

@MountainJay @the0ther My brother and I are passionate about helping the homeless because we've both - independently of one another - been there and know how incredibly lucky we are to have gotten back on our feet. That said, we're also suspect about a lot of "relief" efforts and have had to learn how to spot a scam (both from orgs and those needing "help").If you need a hand figuring out where to start and how to do the most good, hit me up and we'll figure it out for your area together. ❤️

@justinerickson @MountainJay @the0ther I agree with you about being skeptical; I'm skeptical about any org, no matter how small, until I personally vet them by looking at where their funding etc is coming from.Mental illness and drug use is absolutely a large part of the homelessness puzzle. And having dealt with addiction in my own family, I know an addict won't accept or make use of help getting clean unless they are ready to do so. Some never are, and that's frustrating.

@SeaRobb My brother and SiL are woke to the point of making excuses as to why they won't listen to NA or Congressional Dish, so at this point I just consider talking to them to be BotG research. Their take is that accepting illegal aliens into the US is the Christian Thing to Do. After all, Jesus was a political refugee who extended His grace to sinners of all stripes and was thus a radical. Bringing up the points you did gets a labeling as a racist and xenophobe b/c "We are all God's children".

@SeaRobb They talk a lot about Evangelicals and the like "cherry picking" from Scripture, but they do the same thing but on different issues by way of ignoring things Jesus said. Like cutting off a hand if it causes you to sin, and rending unto Caesar what is Caesar's. It's not for us to judge others, that belongs to God and in the meantime we should welcome everyone and extend our Christian Charity to them.

@Mummabear @CSB CJ gets a chewable NSAID after his Scooby Snack when we get back from going potty. He recently had his annual vet visit and she said that aside from arthritis, he's a very healthy 16-year-old boi. 🥰

@Tula @adam Agreed, Tula. Healthy reconciliation requires the imposition of boundaries that, if crossed, will result in definite consequences that must be followed through. Reconciliation without boundaries is a recipe for re-victimization.

@diego More like, have you ever tried working while having a job? When I hear people talking about how HARD their job is and OMG they want too much from me my stock reply is, "Fuck, I know right?? It's like they expect us to do stuff if we want money!!" This either shuts them down or pisses them off further but either way they fuck off, so it's always a win for me.

@DaddyO @SeaRobb I agree, it's not the same thing. Also, it is possible to love someone yet know it's not a good idea to have anything to do with them. In their case, it's cognitive dissonance at work - both myself and my SiL have issues with the families we grew up with that have led us to cut off contact and they're fine with that, but apply the same principle on the immigration issue and let the "REEEE!!" commence.
