@FluentInFinance I'd push back on the car one a little bit. Cars were crap. If your car lasted 5 years or 100,000 miles it was extraordinary. Now cars are expected to do 12 years/250k or it's a lemon. They're a lot safer too and even the ICE ones emit far less pollution per mile.

@futurebird when I did the Alcatraz swim (in a sleeveless wetsuit and an insulated cap), they said almost everyone who started swimming towards San Francisco finished. The bulk of the people who didn't finish were the ones who didn't train cold, jumped off the ferry into the bay, and then swam right back to the boat , thinking "oh hell no"...and that was 58⁰

@futurebird I have a vague memory of meeting with one back in my late 20s. The woman she set me up with was.... Her assistant. Was never sure if that meant she held me in great esteem or if her cupboard was bare. Can't even clearly remember if I met the match.

@futurebird I setup the mail merge for my mom's small business on an Apple][ clone when I was an early teen. 2nd year college, I'm telling her I'm taking "Database Fundamentals" class and she asks why I have to take that. Asserts I already know the fundamentals. I respond, "This is like, fundamentals of the American Airlines reservation database".
