@leo I’ll wait to hear the details before I cancel Lastpass. In the past when journos talked about “breaches,” they turned out to be the kind of attacks that you just know all the password managers have (e.g. credential stuffing). I don’t believe in punishing a company for transparency.

@stellarator Agreed. This feels a bit like we’ve gone from a house that lets the kids have all the screen time they want, and into a house where nobody is allowed to have electronics. Requiring that people “talk back,” to support something sets the bar too high for a lot of people, creates unnecessary noise, and basically tells introverts “You’re not welcome here.”

@leo I see where you’re going. Placing marks to communicate or commemorate something. A person who does one may do another. I could be a positive correlation, but it could be the opposite: people with the same inclination take different outlets. I have my guess, but research is needed.

I just went to a site with my adblocker on. There was the standard popup asking me to “support free content.” I was feeling generous, and like the content was worth it, so I opened drop down, saw the “number of items blocked” counter cross into the triple digits, and stopped. If you’re running an ad supported site, some of us are happy to support you by allowing a REASONABLE number of ads to get through. We can see when you’re abusing the system, though. You’re eating your own seed corn.
