@Taffer Hey, congrats! I started up French from the beginning again the day before yesterday and already broke my 1 day streak yesterday.

@reinboar Just don't get overconfident. You know what they say: It's tricky to rock a rhyme that's right on time.

@Ivafakename I actually know someone who made a non-nude-but-sort-of-pinup-looking photo of themselves into a fridge magnet and sent it to any of their friends who wanted one. I have one! It makes a good fridge magnet, really.

I enjoy great-sounding claims followed by a whole pile of qualifiers: "The #1 Best-Loved Television Show About Small Dogs Produced In The Azores For Under $500 An Episode That's Aired For Longer Than Six Years On Tuesdays!"

The internet is full of amazing knowledge. For instance, today I learned (TIL!) the difference between a mlem and a blep -- something that's long confused me! It turns out that a mlem stems from intentional licking and a blep is when the tongue just sticks out involuntarily.

@wolfie That's so cool! I remember seeing that tool but I never did get it.

Last night's school stress dream was so vivid that it took me a good five minutes of she time to begin to convince myself that I'm not even enrolled in any form of school.

The degree of anxiety I'm feeling over maybe going back to work in a week is overwhelming and almost certainly unfounded, and the fact that I'm feeling it anyway is making me feel even worse.

It turns out that I'm not being brought back to work just yet. I feel bad for feeling as relieved as I do.

@fribbledom Iced coffee bought from cafes is generally heavily sweetened, but also, the cold-brew process if it's actually been cold brewed rather than just being coffee poured over ice is supposed to eliminate most of the bitterness of coffee. That said, I've tried it myself at home and didn't find it made a giant difference. Still, most cold drinks taste better than hot drinks to me even with all else equal. I mean, warm water is nasty, but cold water is great.

@Taffer The memo from head office says that Toronto has the room to reopen with full staff, but our HR person seemed to indicate it's largely a financial move -- that some people have also been put on reduced hours and will remain there until things pick up.

@someonetellmetosleep Do you think a tool like Grammarly would help? In addition to the grammar part (which is irrelevant here) it tells you what it thinks the tone of your message is, and updates if you change it. It could be a nice "second opinion" to have if that would help. (Most of the time, it thinks my messages are businesslike.) In the full editor you can even set goals for a piece of writing and it will tell you how well you've achieved them. (See attachment.)

@someonetellmetosleep Yeah, on the phone it would be awkward. I hope that, tool or not, you find a way to talk more if it's something you want to do! I'd enjoy seeing more chatty posts from you.

@slightlyflightyone I'm pretty sure I'm the 100% flip of this. People who talk about 'boys' and 'girls' in sexual terms give me the skeeves, but 'enbies' has never seemed like an age-related term.

I just wrote a reply about this, but it seemed like it might be interesting to some of you outside of that conversation as well. If you have trouble judging tone (which I sometimes do), Grammarly has added tone-checking to their free level. I find it more useful than the grammar tips, to be honest. And if you launch a document in their document editor (rather than using the inline browser checking) you can even set goals for your writing and it will tell you how well you've achieved them.

The fact that I'm perpetually out of ammo for all of my fancy weapons and just frantically beating everything with a wrench increases the terror level of Prey considerably, but also lends it a certain madness that seems oddly appropriate.

A friend of a friend just had their first board game Kickstarter launch. It's a card-based one-on-one duel game that reminds me in a lot of ways of the sadly-didn't-last-long CCG Corunea that I thought was wonderful back in the day. It's called Duels of Cartisora. If you want to check out the KS, feel free! Also if you want to boost this, I would appreciate it!https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/centrix/duels-of-cartisora

You know, nobody really talks about the guy who, during the attack on the Death Star, made it all the way through his approach and trench run and fired his torpedoes on target but had them ricochet off the surface without going in, all without being a magical space wizard guided by an all seeing ghost or having his friends come out of nowhere to destroy the tailing fighters at the last moment.

I took a photo of my eggs yesterday that I noticed in my gallery today but can't on any level recall why I did so. As a direct result, y'all get to enjoy them.
