my dog has captured the evening sock and is looking for something to bury it in. He manages to find socks everywhere. When we get ready to do something fun he first goes and grabs a sock. We refer to that as the "celebratory sock". He's odd.

Where do I fight this encroaching fascism. Where do I start? All the usual political activities seem so inadequate- voting, GOTV, donating, talking to people, registering voters, etc etc- it all seems rather quaint now. Take to the streets? Never seems to work. Organize when our party would rather go after its own members than trump? Everything is broken. Someone send me a roadmap.

When I was a kid my dad ran the NJ summer camp for blind and visually impaired kids. It was a great place to grow up every summer. We had two kids who did a "radio show" over the camp wide Public Address system. They often played, what I assume, was a 1950s novelty record about a spaceship that broadcast a weird sound that made people shrink. I was terrified of this song and when I knew they were gonna play it I would try to run away out of earshot. I have been trying to find that song for years to no avail. Does this ring a bell for anyone? Did I imagine all of this? It haunts me in my old age!!!!! I can find no reference to such a thing on the interwebs! Help me, John Mastodon, you're my only hope.

@futurebird E.T. was scared. He was just hanging out looking at trees and taking samples and then the mean tall guy was chasing him. I still hope ET shows up in my cornfield. If I had a cornfield. Which I don't.

@futurebird Is that true? I feel like there are a lot of stories from all over (I should state here that I do not believe we are being visited by aliens, although I would love that to be true). Recently there were "alien" bodies that some guy in Mexico was producing. Also, I know Europe has an alien sighting culture- and there was that famous UFO sighting near some school In South Africa, IIRC.

My husband and I know this man. My husband taught his kids. He's an incredible sweet guy. He is in the country legally- he pays taxes, he's married to a US Citizen, he has no criminal record and now he's in ICE detention. When he arrived at the Intensive Supervision Appearance Program office, he was informed that there had been a mistake and he had to go to ICE. Once at the Newark ICE facility, Karim was apprehended.
