Because ultimately (and ultimate) unity is God. It's all so simple its confusing. I have to take care to not pretend to speak with authority. This is just coping and grasping for something to understand. I don't really know anything. But is the One. He made the whole of everything so that everything might enjoy the experience of total unity. Unlock from himself all so that each can have a self and discover the joy that is the unity that god is.

And there isn't just some random jumble of arbitrary rules. There is a path for all beings to rejoin total unity but in possession of their own consciousness. God made you and the whole creation to give you the opportunity to experience what he experiences eternally. And that is found in your heart and your understanding. So when you approach the judgement seat you'll be given exactly what you've worked for. If you've worked for unification and understanding you'll have that eternally. If you've worked for faction and ignorance you'll have that eternally.

So creation cannot be without calamity. How could you know what unity is not without loss? Remember you do not have the mind of god. You are a particularization of the totality. You are of division. Pain is to be further divided. Joy is towards reunion. Then likewise damnation is an unavoidable consequence of materializing being itself. It's always going to be the realm of the lost parts who cannot or better yet will not find their way back

@brother anyway that was a crappy response. We don't live forever. If in your soul you don't want god, you don't want that oneness then there is no home for it in you. You are separate by will. Then you will be given the separation you have willed. Otherwise you have used your life as a tool to come into the presence of god, to be unified in soul to the totality and have an awareness of this and to not get mired in the mediocrities of biological life, then finally that should be achieved. But maybe you've willed unity and a love of god in your heart but still got distracted by shiny things. Well there is purgatory. There should be fewer distractions there for the sincere but less focused
