From Syracuse to Sydney, economists *know* that, through the magical powers of neoclassical economics, increasing mortgage rates for homeowners will simultaneously:- End the war in Ukraine!- Make it warmer in winter (and cooler in summer)!- Deliver food from the sky to make up for this year's crop losses!

@futurebird Rather like the Nigerian scammers offering you a million dollars, I'd hazard a guess that the inanity is a feature, not a bug. It assures the test marketer that no-one with more than a small number of past-use-by-date grey cells will click, thus maximizing the chances of luring the right type of customers into the sales channel.Welcome the the early years of the second great dark age!
