On the downhill side now, but Camellia x vernalis Christmas Carol is a pretty site from October through December. Dark pink blooms with white margins appear on semi-weeping branches, making it a lovely candidate for a container garden. Because it’s a cross between C. sasanqua and C. japonica, it takes the best traits from both worlds and can better tolerate our southern temperature swings, especially through fall and winter.#gardening #JanuaryJoy #GardeningMastodon #JanuaryFlowers #Camellia

The dwarf variety of native plant Joe Pye Weed is Eutrochium dubium 'Little Joe' (Coastal Plain Joe Pye Weed). It's still a robust perennial at 3-5' tall, but may be more suitable for home gardens than the 6-7' Joe Pye. This was one of five winners in the 2022 Georgia Pollinator Plants of the Year Award, and the only native.https://botgarden.uga.edu/conservation-science/pollinator-plant-program/#NationalNativePlantMonth #NativePlants #UGA #plants #horticulture #biodiversity #BiodiversityGarden #JoePyeWeed #PollinatorPlants #gardening

“Designing the garden is like learning to speak. You begin with odd words learning the individual plants. Then you create a simple phrase, finding two or three plants that look well together, next comes a sentence and finally the complete story.”~ Beth ChattoA pond garden that I have been renovating for over a year for one of my clients. We are in the process of collecting 50-75 perennials to be installed later this month. #gardening #GardenDesign #PondGarden #perennials #WildlifeHabitat
