@Keef Specifically, what if I could show that someone was still "presenting as a man" and was still using their male name, within the two year required period that a person is supposed to have been "living like a woman", including social presentation and name change? How would you report that?

God, I've not really been active on here for a couple of days and every time I dip in I either see people upset because Alex made a joke about cake (not even on spinster, so I don't know why those upset about a man making a joke, or having an opinion, are even following him, tbh) or women tearing shreds out of each other over something else. What is going on, spinster?

@WrenWinx Who said anything about "being nicer"? I think, tbh, your replies here illustrate the problem. Too many people are too quick to take offence or turn something into a patriarchal attack on women. Some perspective would be good. I get that you disagree though.

@alex It's something that's bothered me a bit, tbh, as I think some women see this as a radfem, women only platform, which means, if that's not how you think, then you're likely to upset people. I think people know that I put off joining because I didn't want to be part of an echo chamber or a hivemind. Healthy debate and access to a variety of opinions is important to me, but some of the stuff from the past couple of days has just looked a bit ridiculous.

Okay, I hate purity politics, but can we please talk about Posie's view that victims of abuse are allowing themselves to be victims, and how incompatible that is with talking about the compromise to women's safety engendered by the inclusion of trans women?Let's say Posie used Karen White, as an example of why TW should not be placed in women's prisons, how easy would it be to turn this exchange around on her, and for someone to claim that the victims "chose" to allow it to happen?Posie is great at publicity stunts, after all they bring her attention, but her politics, and understanding of the issues, is fucking awful.

@SheChanges If I'm really honest, I don't think she's on women's side, I think she's on the anti-trans side. I get that a lot of people will defend her to the hilt, though, and am not gonna police people's opinions. I do, though, think we have to be aware of arguments that can be used against us, especially when they're being generated by people who, as far as other people will understand it, are on our side. We shouldn't have to spend our time defending ourselves from Posie's views, but we know the reality of our situation, any shit that can be thrown at us will be.

It's been a while since I posted, but I have to get this off my chest. The ultimate irony of the past week is this...had Wayne Couzens appeared in court today and declared he had "womanly feelings", Sisters Uncut would be campaigning for him to be remanded into the female estate, and all mentions of male violence, in reference to the case, stricken from the history books due to its violent transphobia. They are not on our side and the politicising of Sarah Everard's death is incredibly sad. I hope her family are receiving lots of support and love, I cannot imagine what this must be like for them.

Today I stood, with many other residents of my hometown, along the main road into town, to say goodbye to Gracie Spinks.You may not have heard of 23 year old Gracie, as her story occurred around the same time as we were all reeling from the shock of what happened to Sarah Everard, but her story is one all too familiar to many women.On the 18th June, at around 7.30am, Gracie had gone to the stables, where she kept her horse, Paddy. At 8am she was found unconscious, lying in a pool of blood. A man was seen running away from the scene. Paramedics attended and attempted CPR. They realised that Gracie had been stabbed and the police were called. Gracie was pronounced dead by 8.50am.Police searched the area for the man who had been seen running away. He was eventually found by a member of the public. He was also dead, a later postmortem found that his death was self inflicted, having starved himself of oxygen.The man, Michael Sellers, was known to Gracie. They had been colleagues. In the weeks before her death, Gracie had been to the police to complain that Sellers had been stalking her. Despite police speaking to him, he did not leave Gracie alone.Gracie's friends have begun a campaign for Gracie's law, asking for harsher penalties for stalkers, including custodial sentences in cases where death threats are made. Currently there is only a paper petition, although they also plan to start a petition on the UK Parliament petition site. Gracie Spinks' family and friends have finally had their petition approved by the UK Government and Parliament petitions site. They are asking for better funding for advocates of victims of stalking, in the hopes that this will in turn lead to better police investigations into cases of stalking, potentially saving women from further acts of violence or even death.
