As of yesterday I have moved from #fosstodon to #data.coop instance. Big thanks to @mike, @kev and the others admins at Fosstodon for hosting me on the ride. My new home allows me to post in Danish 🙂 so dear English speaking followers, please be warned - some gibberish toots may follow in the future.

@mike it was not an easy decision, I found a lot of interesting people to follow while on Fosstodon. But the opportunity to also communicate in my native language was to tempting. I often struggle to express myself in English.

@hankg I guess the only possible defense is to let the browser pop up a big fat warning whenever handling a facebook link. On the source side whenever a user copies a link, a popup should explain what you are targeting your friends with. And the receiving side, a browser should present a warning before opening a Meta link (like most mua's does with external links in mail content)

@mshI am not that deep into how federation works, so this might be guesswork: But I would think, that the stats on your server more likely reflects that users on your server, have found some interesting people on octodon.social - and due to the local timeline, the people they follow on octo are more likely to boost other octo tooters. Thus amplifying the trend on your instance.

@mshAs I said, just a guess from my side 😄 Anyway I think it would be a god thing if people really are moving out on more instances. Not that I have anything against mastodon.social, but it sort of goes against the the federation idea if everyone is on the same instance.

@lethen
