Had to buy a copy of every paper available & 3 packs of fags. So the guy in the kiosk couldn’t guess & report on her politics. In '73 we moved to Spain where I played with a kid who was being taken care of by his blind grandfather. He'd lost his sight living underground hiding from Franco. Brit schools taught me Greece owes it's independence to the RN.

When asked about Kolokotronits, Botsaris, Karaiskakis, Bouboulina et al, secret schools, a religion & language kept alive through 400 years of occupation & if any of that might have contributed to Greece becoming independent, he advised that answering to that effect would not lead to a pass.

@Corfiot @Irreverent_B @peterrelph2 @dallas @DrALJONES @truthat Many years latter met a Russian (unlike others, wasted a morning writing the contact up too) who informed me the Treaty of Adrianople caused independence. Can't speak for others, I've definitely moved leftwards & was never right of sensible, even with a life wasted contributing to & sustaining an unsustainable, inequitable & divisive system of governance that is now utterly proven to benefit the few at massive cost to the many.

@Corfiot Luckily #ΕΣΥ are now first port of call, and for a very reasonable €126/pcm with ΟΓΑ - they even cover preexisting conditions, highly recommended. Praying they don't go the way of the NHS. Hashtags, like adolescent pimples, seem to spread the more they're squeezed but squeezing them is so satisfying- it's a viscous irritant, itching, demanding constant attention. A visit to the local Κέντρο Υγείας will no doubt result in the usual cure for such irritations; Canesten® probably recommend.

@Penelope I didn't realise other airlines had ceased using the route a year before, why on God's good earth would they do that? Saving fuel is all I can think of. Not that I fly anywhere anymore but Malaysian Airlines looks like one to avoid.

On ward 411, there was an Albanian surname, a Russian woman pretending to be Ukrainian with no surname (the Albanian was elderly & learnt Russian under Hoja), my surname & two unrelated chaps from #Lefkimi but with the same surname. I hadn't realised that the good folk of north #Corfu had taken racial segregation to the point where Lefkimiotes patients are actually sickbayed with the other foreigners.

Σαπίζει εκ των έσω, με προσωπικό που δεν μπορεί να οργανώσει απεργία, καταθλιπτικοί, αποθαρρυμένοι και κακοπληρωμένοι.
