@adamprocter this is a slippery slope. As pay gap is not equivalent to equal pay for equal work. Most articles compare across levels, just like the one you linked: "While the data is not detailed enough to provide an examination of equal pay for equal work"They proceed to blow it off as not important but it's really important. They also don't say anything about overtime which men are far more likely to do.https://scholar.harvard.edu/files/bolotnyy/files/be_gendergap.pdf From the intro "men do 83% more overtime".

Genuine question:I don't have 2FA on my password manager out of fear that if I loose my phone, I'd lock myself out of everything. I know I should have 2FA, but then to problem is shifted to keeping the backup codes safe.So how do you guys go about keeping your backup codes safe but reasonably accessible?#security #cybersecurity

@lenzj I use Aegis as my code app but backups don't answer my question. As you still need to keep those backups in a safe location. With "safe" being vague and the examples they give you are dumb. Storing your backups on cloud... That's dumb as if you loose access to your authenticator app how exactly are you expected to access the backups?

@PoCampo what do you define as "safe place" in your home or do you say give them to very trusted friends and family?

@kenny this is similar to how I do things. I use an encrypted syncthing folder to replicate things like my backup codes across my devices. But I was still weary about putting the codes to my password manager (and everything else) in my password manager as then if you get access to my password manager you also get the 2FA codes.

I've decided to give #protonmail a shot after using #tutanota for 2years.Proton seems to be more feature complete and has the more advanced filters I was looking for.I've also decided to make my security a tab bit more robust but using 2FA with my pw manager and simply keeping more backups of Aegis. Currently w/ syncthing keeping a copy on each of my machines.

Alright, I'm all ready to change email providers. But I think that will be a weekend task. In the meantime I've secured with fresh passwords and 2FA: protonmail, my DNS provider (which holy shit didn't have 2FA until now) and next before I forget bitwarden.#security #email

@logrus1 which such a good beard, a nice professional cut that can see the whole picture would probably also be best.I've decided to grow mine out again and I'm using november as an excuse but probably will keep it long. Unfortunately I can't grow a big stache.

@logrus1 I've followed protonmail over the years and the app has improved so much over the last 2. Tutanota has barely changed in that time.I'm jumping on on plus as I want the 200 labels/folders as filters are a main feature I want. And because plus is how you get access to custom domain email which is how you avoid having to change EVERYTHING when you change email providers and you look classy e.g. @zanca.dev

All setup with #protonmail. UX so far feels so squeeky clean compared to tutanota (I'm sorry guys, but you've fallen behind)I'm sure I'll get over the new-car feeling soon but theres a few things I like for:+ import-export app: In case I wanna leave, no friction. Nice+ Very good filter system+ Folders / Labels have notification toggles+ Android app allows email preview in notification+ Mark as read filters that don't trigger notifications.- Email aliases with + don't work :/

@theDoctor that's because it's end to end encrypted. The bridge does the encrypting and decrypting client side so that you can use traditional protocols that don't support end to end encryption.

@protonmail I just started using protonmail plus (yesterday). So far, really satisfied and am looking forward to new things to come (e.g. android app redesign) Do you guys have public roadmap so that I can follow progress?

@fedops Never used foot, looks pretty good though! I used to use Alacritty for my floating terminals but I recently fell in love with dropdowns and so I use yakuake on my KDE arch setup and iterm2 on macos.
