@stux Yeah, sadly they were just doing their job. Hospital doesn't get paid unless you get referred by gp or the ambulance. Stupid bureaucracy, I know, but them are the rules. I bet they were the one who told you you could call the ambulance from the parking lot.

@futurebird I used to have a recurring -sort of- nightmare.I'd walk through some sliding doors and enter a room with concrete walls and big windows. The room was more like a curved corridor. In fact, it was a crescent. I'd always walk to the left from the sliding doors and find the corridor getting narrower and narrower and the ceiling lower.In 1976 I was 4 and we were living in Toronto. My grandparents visited and my mom told them to not take me to the top level of the CN Tower ...

@futurebird We were in Nicaragua, a long time ago. I think it was Granada. Outside the current town are the remains of the old town, which were considered lost for ages. Our guide told the story how the old town was rediscovered.Apparently an archaeologist saw houses built with particular old bricks and asked the locals where they got them. The answer? -Oh, just over there, by the brick mine.

@futurebird @SteveClough @VirginiaHolloway If i'm not mistaken the argument wasn't over what it says in the bible, that's the word of God, so duh. The argument was over what it _says_ in the bible, what it really says, i.e. the interpretation. But the bible says so many contradictory things, so it's not surprising some people get upset every once in a while.

@futurebird I classify this as absolute bs.There might have been a point to this in the very old days, but I can tell you with confidence that neither my printer at home, nor the printer at our office cares at all about paper orientation.Also, if it even was once true that the orientation of the paper mattered it would surely depend on the make and model of your copier/printer at the time.I think it's just one of those things that can't be proven, so whoever said it was always right.
