@FarcryFuhrer @hikari @mkultra I was pretty late to Digimon (2018) but when digging deep into its depths you can find a lot of decent designs. I don't care for mechas, guns, and humans as monsters to befriend, but their more proper monsterlikes can be good.

@FarcryFuhrer @hikari @mkultra Pokemon games were coherent and their formula was pretty defined from the start. Digimon was onto something with Digimon World 1 (combining RPG and Vpet and letting you wander a somewhat open-ended world) but they got really inconsistent and generally bad games all about. DW4 was just a shitty hack n slash and stuff like the Story games were just grindy flat RPGs (with nice spritework). The anime seasons, however, tended to be more sufficiently focused since they would have ends. Ghost Game has been fun.

@FarcryFuhrer @My_Real_Name @hikari @mkultra Mugendramon is one of the better mechs for its typical roles.Funnily enough, apparently there was an old concept in Digimon that was interesting. Apparently evolving to Perfect was supposed to be somewhat of a painful process to achieve that scale of power. Hence why that stage tended to add a lot of mecha bits to organic stuff. It was apparently dropped early on, but it kind of gives context to that sort of thing.

@sapphire @CatboyCumDump @mkultra Unova games I was surprised how fondly I look back on it. It was definitely the last big peak before Pokemon started lulling in 6 and 7 and then driving off a cliff.

Sobble isn't great but I don't hate them. When walking home I found someone threw out their McDonalds Sobble card. This was back during the last big Pokemon card craze. Took it home and adopted it.

I think James Turner designed Edgy Lugia in XD and later went on to make some Pokemon in Gen 5 before taking reins in SwSh and adding a bunch of brown people to London. Even he's jumped off the ship as of Scarlet and Violet.
