Interesting. I got a bunch of transphobia in response to this post. I reported what I've seen so far.The whole reason I'm on a train in Mexico City is that I had to flee my home and country which has been taken over by fascists.Everybody please punch the next fascist you see. Isolate them.

@grickle But Medusa doesn't turn you to stone when she looks at you. She turns you to stone when *you* look at her! That makes this an interesting philosophical question: which things possess the capability to look at things. Certainly the cat does. If a doll has the capability to look at things, that is interesting. A doll has things that look like eyes, but no ability to understand meaning from them. So can anything with eyes turn to stone? How much like an eye does it have to be?

@foone I don't know if this is helpful, but you could consider medical tourism.I'm in Mexico and I've found the quality of medical care to compare favorably with the United States, and the prices to just be wildly low. Like, paying out of pocket costs what I'm used to insurance co-pays costing. I got a root canal and there was no pain during or after the procedure.

@philbetts @futurebird I recently saw a science video that said the star Trappist-1 is "1,800 times less bright" than our sun. I don't like this. I guess that would mean that its brightness is 1/1800th that of the sun, but saying it the way they did is confusing.

@futurebird @philbetts People can also get confused about fractions. Yesterday, I myself had to think for a moment about if 1/3 or 1/4 was larger.So I don't know, maybe say that the sun is 1,800 times brighter or something.
