@weirdwriter Can't help but notice you are not on that list; plan to change that? :)

@weirdwriter Looks great! The only mistake I found is that it links to mastodon.social. That instance is no longer accepting new members, so you might want to replace it with mastodon.online.But please don't just link to the two huge instances. The whole point of the federation is that there's multiple instances out there, so we shouldn't be recommending the biggest ones, imo. Perhaps link to something like:https://fediverse.party/en/portal/servers1/2

@weirdwriter And it might be good to link to the main websites of these services; in Mastodon's case, this would be https://joinmastodon.org/

@weirdwriter ... I've just linked you one? Headings, lists and links, seems to be fine. But JoinMastodon.org's database isn't that bad on my end. I can go to the category selection, press NVDA+space, then select from the menu.

@weirdwriter Oh yeah. Agreed, that one is a pain to use. But JoinMastodon and the themed list should make up for it. I'll try to find more lists.

@vishnuvaratharajan Oh, you're right! The first few notes are indeed the same. I didn't even notice. :)This artist has a lot of albums up on bandcamp, so there's plenty for you to explore if you feel like it. He makes music under the labels Black Hill, Silent Island, Realm Of Wolves, Stvannyr, musicformessier and Whitecube.Yes, long list. No, I have no idea how the hell he does it.I've only checked out a few so far, but Mother of all trees by Black Hill is also pretty good.

@weirdwriter I can't, sorry. I am not affiliated with Trunk. The list of the admins is on the website. If you sent in your application to one and they did not respond, you could try another one; kensanata and amolith seem to be the most active. But perhaps wait a few days first. I know it took about 10 for my DM to be responded to.

@weirdwriter I'm not sure I understand the question. Maybe because it's late at night over here, lol. Could you rephrase it, please?

@scottlagle Can't think of any specific people at the moment, but have you checked out Trunk yet? It's a great place for finding people with similar interests.https://communitywiki.org/trunkThe search field is your friend, too. For example, the best way to check who has been talking about gardening recently is to search for #Gardening and see what comes up. Then remember to use hashtags yourself as well, so others can find you in return.

Browsing through genre recommendations on #Bandcamp is fun! It's a similar feeling to exchanging music recommendations in DMs; I get songs that are somewhat related to what I like, yet miss the mark most of the time.I get to sift through piles of uninteresting stuff and figure out why I find it so. And every so often, I find a gem. Somehow, that's much more enjoyable than a perfect algorithm could be.I like listening to things that I don't like. Does that make sense? I think it does, actually.

@weirdwriter Not as far as I'm aware. There is a list of Mastodon apps:https://joinmastodon.org/appsI'd suggest just using a search engine. "Apps for Peertube", for example, got me this:https://f-droid.org/en/packages/net.schueller.peertube/

@Beyond @fribbledom Nope, that's not what it says. Take another look at the title. ;)And please do read the article. It's awesome!

@BrokenBiscuit @fribbledom You are thinking about a different article. :) This is a freshly written article by @eloquence, and if you take a good look at the title, you'll see that it's actually saying the exact opposite of what the article you're thinking of was saying.Or better yet, just take a few minutes to read it. It's worth it. Will brighten your day, trust me. :)

@fribbledom Wow, unfollowing someone because of one single toot that they didn't even bother to double-check?Well, I suppose I'll just have to follow you then, to try to balance it out!

@eloquence Great article! Gives me both the enjoyment of having read a well thought out piece, and that of seeing people get outraged at it as it is being shared all around the Fediverse, without even reading it first. That title choice was both unfortunate and genius. :)This seems like something you might want to pin, imo.

@BrokenBiscuit I've read that article, too. And I agree it was pretty funny. But it didn't have any inverted commas in the title. ;)

@syntax My strategy is just turning WiFi and data off when I'm not using them and having location and Bluetooth turned off at all times. I use Blokada (available on FDroid) to limit tracking somewhat. I guess if you wanted to go a step further, you could also use Orbot to rout all internet traffic through Tor.But other than that? Always connected. I got the phone so people could call me, after all. If I had it on airplane mode most of the time, I might as well just not have it.

Social.privacytools.io is a great place! Full of helpful, friendly and great to talk to people. It's the instance that introduced me to Mastodon, and I'm very glad I picked it.But the wanderlust is upon me. And, while I do care about privacy, and while this instance does allow posts about other topics, I feel like a more general instance would fit me better. So I will be slowly making a move to @MayanaThank you for all the good times! I'll make sure to still check the local timeline sometimes.

All things that could be exported were, I ask for the replacement on #Trunk, and the pinned posts have been reposted. All that remains is moving all the followers, which would close this account.A bit hesitant to do that though. That would mean I could no longer use this account for anything. For example, for hashtag searches, since this instance knows more posts than my new one. Couldn't even delete any of the toots individually, just the whole account at once.Hmm, decisions.

@weirdwriter @Mayana Felt like moving because I no longer felt like enough of a privacy lover for this instance. My interests are too varied.Granted, I'm not a huge dragons fan either, but it's a much more neutral name, and I know the guy that hosts the instance.
