       @Deepsealioness @restioson Liberalism is about finding the balance between freedom and equality which is also close to ideas of democracy. It is different from Left which really just means progressive / change ( Left side seating in French National Assembly 1789) and later had also come to represent social justice as the opposing Right was associated with interests of upper or dominant classes.

       @Deepsealioness @restioson A lot of people just think of Left as Communists or Socialist which is not true either.The term Left Liberal just means the political orientation seeking change towards freedom and equality focusing on social justice.It's opposite is Right Conservatism which is the political orientation opposing change towards freedom (more authoritarian) and inclined towards conservatism and justification of inequality as a natural state of affairs.

       @SabinaBasha @RaghunathR @ranjona If I may add to the confusion here 🙂 There is something fundamentally wrong with the idea that you can practice your own religion deeply worshipping your one and only true god and at the same time love people who worship their other true gods. The nice Hindi song and the anecdotal Sikh-Rohingya or Christian-Parsee love apart, one has to be able to recognize the cognitive dissonance in that position.

       @SabinaBasha @RaghunathR @ranjona Sarcasm is you perception when you can't deal with the hipocrisy in your position and hatred is you shooing me off your TL. I have dim opinion of Hindutva and Hindus (no real difference between the two when you look at the core of Varnashrama based homophobia). But that doesn't mean other religions don't have there vices.

       @SabinaBasha @RaghunathR @ranjona That the oppressed minority anywhere needs to be supported irrespective of religion should be the liberal position. Not being able to recognize the vices that drives religion, when it is your own religion -that is bigotry.

       @NSure @SabinaBasha @RaghunathR @ranjona Oh I wish it were as benign and easy as moving from Classic Rock to HipHop. Unfortunately religion is an ugly beast that has fangs and doesn't compare in any respect with musical taste. Almost all of of us are indoctrinated into the religion of our parents in childhood and most of us get to our graves locked under its grip of fear and desire. So simple it is not to change and naive it is to expect that religions are benign to each other.

Some times I like temple music and church choir as well but they tend to be longer. But the fact that all of them are a public nuisance goes without saying. But that really is not the point right?How religions react to each other is what matters. Fundamentally when gods of the religions are at each other's throats prayers not going to be pleasant

So whether everyone must put up with it is a question worth debating.But that apart I find the mosque prayers over loudspeakers less of a problem than temples using loudspeakers to blare out temple music. This is just because the duration is shorter. You can just wait for it to end soon and the get back to whatever you were doing.  Whereas temple music goes for hours together.
