You come to see you had some misconceptions. Just when a major lie that gave you doubts is exposed, another team comes back and does what you couldn't. Still conflicted, you're brought to future, which has become hellishly despotic, yet with a recognizable but exceedingly  slavishly obedient population. It all finally snaps in to place, and regardless of the odds against you, you know the choice has already been made. You must fight.After this, it's up in the air how the story is resolved, many endings would be satisfying, but as an example:Shit goes down, but ultimately you manage to go back before the second team arrives and in a pitched battle, you win at great cost. Time is of the essence, and in order to put an end to further attempts you must deploy a jamming device while returning to your own. You arrive back, fully expecting to be subject to ruthless punishment, but the lab is gone. You're in a field. In the distance, smoke escapes from the chimneys of a primitive, but happy village.
