I think we should try to educate twitter migratees about fediverse culture in a friendly way. However, I've seen plenty of people who are harsh or even hostile to the newcomers. I think that's misguided. Being unfriendly to newcomers will drive them back to twitter or other proprietary platforms.We should give the newbies a genuine chance by being patient enough to explain fediverse culture, and hopefully they'll integrate well soon.Currently, newbie related issues are amplified by the sheer number of them, but once they start learning fediverse culture the issues will reduce.Also I think we should show a good example of a less toxic social media environment. Being toxic to newbies likely encourages them to act toxically as well, and I think nobody wants this.

I'm a person of color with multiple other marginalizations and I still think automated fediblock is a terrible idea.It could be abused to put people on the list for malicious or petty reasons and by doing so, ostracize them from a large part of the fediverse.Automated fediblock only works if you can *fully* trust everyone who can put instances/users onto the list. And given the rampant amount of bullshit fediblock posts already in existence, that definitely won't work.I remember from my twitter days that plenty of people blocked me for seemingly no reason. Probably I was on some blocklist, but I didn't even know on what list and why. It often made me feel terrible because it felt like there was something I did wrong, and I can't even fix it because nobody ever tells me what it is. The same reason I feel terrible when getting blocked without an obvious reason. It's "This person hates me now and there's nothing I can ever do about it". The revolutionary part of it would be acknowledging that living in non-poverty is an unconditional basic right.UBI should kill the argument of "welfare queens get more than hard-working minimum wage people" because you still get full UBI if you work, in *addition* to any earned wages.UBI would make minimum wage unnecessary. The UBI should be enough to cover basic living costs (if it isn't, it's done wrong), so one could still live well with a low wage. But also, it might actually drive wages UP because people aren't dependent anymore on having a job at all and can afford to refuse low-paying or otherwise shitty jobs.Children and teens should get full UBI, delivered directly to them and not their parents. Parents should have limited control over their kids' personal property, only to the amount required to prevent harm.Permanent residents should get UBI even if they don't have citizenship.UBI should be attached to inflation, and rise together with the cost of living.UBI will stimulate the economy because formerly poor people will now be able to buy nice things.It's easy to fund. Just enforce multinational corporations paying full taxes for all revenue generated in the country. I know how much it sucks to read stressful content on a bad day, it can be the difference between coping or a suicide attempt.I also know how much racism sucks, from personal experience. But being mean to "white people" (a.k.a. "I just assume everyone who disagrees with me is white") doesn't fix it. It probably just makes white people hate us even more. It might be shooting in the foot of the whole group they try to defend.Sure, of course it's your right to not CW and be rude to white people. It's your free speech. We're just trying to tell you that the way you do it is a dick move.
