So like... #Twitter sucks. We all know it sucks. But people need it. Artists and small businesses need it to promote their work, activists use it to get the word out about ongoing rights abuses, people circulate their GoFundMes, journalists cover important topics, disabled people find community outside their physical reach, and so on.#Mastodon cannot replace Twitter for a lot of people, yet. It just doesn't have the reach or the social infrastructure. I hope it will soon, but it just doesn't.I guess to me, all this finger-wagging about "just quit Twitter, idiot," sounds like a vegan chiding others on what they eat, an environmentalist sneering at your plastic coffee cup, while knowing nothing about your situation. The structures of our world are fundamentally unjust, and we're all making the choices we can to live ethically within it, and we're all failing in one way or another.I can't think of a better way to scare people away from Masto than being sanctimonious about it.

My cat is afraid of contractors.People in general? Super friendly, couldn't be sweeter. I've had all kinds of friends over, even had a few let themselves in when I wasn't home. Male, female, he doesn't mind.UNLESS they have come to fix the sink, in which case he will be inconsolable from the moment they walk up to the door until hours after they are gone.How does he know???
