@enigmatico@mk.absturztau.be There was a type of "overclocking" that was more of an art, and focused not so much on the hardware, as the software. Back then, people would optimize apps and services, that were likely never designed to work on hardware they were using.A good example, I ran Windows ME, Windows 2000, and Windows XP, on a 486 DX Overdrive with only 100 MHz. I'd spend hours, changing settings, modifying commands, and eventually my system ran just as sooth as someone running the latest hardware at the time. It truly was an art, and it sadly has been lost over time.

@Kitty@kitty.social I disagree. You are not a "deadbeat administrator". You're one of the better administrators on the Fediverse. Instead, you provided me and others a free platform to express freedom of speech, without hate speech, even if sometimes that speech may not have been something, you, yourself, personally, always agreed with. You took the time to make sure the site was always working, including the time to develop a script to converts the site from Sharkey to CherryPick. And you were always willing to have a friendly chit-chat or listen to one of your more vocal users, sound off on current events. And despite the fact that people offered to help pay for the site (myself, included), even when you were on a budget yourself, you continued to decline payment, and ran Kitty Dot Social out of pocket, while remaining ad-free.There are a lot of administrators running Fedi sites, that, in my opinion, should not be running Fedi sites. You're not one of them. You're exactly who you need to be, and exactly what the Fediverse needs more of. I would still be on Kitty Dot Social, right now, if it was not for the local laws in your area changing, which is no fault to your own.Do not ever think less of yourself, and never let anyone put you down. Because even in your uncertainty, here you are, once again, putting others first, trying to find a way to keep the site going.#KittyDotSocial #Kitty #Fedi #Fediverse #Misskey #CherryPick #Mastodon #SocialMedia

The government is not ready for the people, and the people are fed up with how the government is not the people.

@BrodieOnLinux@mstdn.social It is free, because it does not cost, but it is not traditionally FOSS, because it is being designed NOT to work on specifically on any operating system. Rather, is it being developed specifically to run within a "store" (Flathub). It is still, technically, open source, and you can edit the code. But that is something most package developers are not looking to do so. Generally, most packages developers like to be pushed vanilla.
