subtoot;I didn't like the "you have to be constantly angry" aspect of Twitter, I'm not exactly fond of it on Mastodon.

@mona @zebratron2084 remember the big reason 45 won wasn't a loose coalition of old-skool white nationalists, Asatru bikers, Gamergaters or whatever; it was decades of gerrymandering, voter suppression, and information control the Republicans and their allies had in place. And it follows logically that with only two choices, the enemy is also forced to be an uncomfortable coalition, the same way "everyone to the left of Ronald Reagan" winds up being a group of leftists and centrists with little love for each other.

I hate how looking for work requires optimism and self-confidence while the process itself is dehumanizing, tells me that I'm disposable, that I'm not worthy, that it's THEIR choice to evaluate ME, and that I should feel scared and desperate while, somehow, never appearing scared or desperate.I hate second guessing myself whenever I think I truly would be a good fit in a job - rather than just feeling this will help me make bills - that I have to accept the huge chance I won't get it.

@viciousviscosity I really, really want to be a storyboard artist and a penciller. I really want to help make finished stories more than really polish art to completion. There are some exceptions like I’d love to work for Osprey Books, adding narrative to kinda documentary illustrations, and that requires much more as painting.

@viciousviscosity pencilling and storyboards farm things out; they’d be jobs where I could draw at top speeds (and I’d have to), but someone else would really polish those drawings to where you’d have an awesome comic or completed film/cutscene. Not only do I like the idea of putting stuff out there more than refining stuff, I like the idea that other people would make my stuff cooler than if it were just me working on it.

@viciousviscosity yeah, exactly! Someone else brings their design sense to bear and makes it better than if I were working alone!

My grampa joined the NYPD in 1936, since it was a job that wasn’t going away (I guess that is kinda mercenary at least), and left sometime in the 50s after a concussion from going over the top of a car which hit him. I really admire him and we were really close when he was around, so I hate feeling like I have to question him, or whether police have really become something he wouldn’t have wanted.

Fucking goddamn Nazis. That’s all they are. WE’RE the real Americans here, fucking Nazis ain’t!

If you're past your twenties, do you ever look back on that decade with this incredible regret that you could have done all this great stuff, and instead you kinda got sidetracked by your own issues? Anyone else feels like they're playing catch up and probably failing?
