@Quilly If it doesn't have a dent in it, it's probably ok, right?

@sollace I know I'm not the target instance here, but can I use these on my instance also? I have a couple pony emotes, but not enough, in my opinion

@Quilly Lithium batteries do have a pretty hard falloff, but I suspect that your phone still thinks it has the previous battery in it. It'll probably figure it out eventually? Also, from the other message, light scratches and dings are kind expected in a super-cheap cell, but punctures (if it smells like a sharpie, it has a hole in it) or big dents are a big no-go, though those are usually somewhat obvious.(Image of dented batteries borrowed from oscarliang.com, had to attach to add alt text)

@Quilly Very late, but I'm also team watergun. Mobility helps!

@Radi_Daydream @Quilly I was talking about this with someone else recently, so I even have photos of my (currently tiny) fleet! I may need to increase the character limit on my instance, though.I've got a 3" quadcopter with more power than sense, a 4" hex with gps for cruising and long range, both running slightly older DJI vistas for video, nebula pro cameras, dji goggles v1, and ELRS for control and telemetry stuck in the back of a somewhat upgraded tx16s radio.Photos as replies in a few.

Hey fediverse! This is your reminder to check in on your elderly relatives and their internet usage habits. Just learned my mom got taken by a crypto scam for $1300, don't let your mom be next.Yes I put parental controls on her stuff now. Yes that is a hilariously apt name.

@Quilly I wouldn't sweat it too much, it is likely very frustrating, but we already know the old battery is smaller than the new one, and batteries losing capacity as they age is usually the failure mode. :fluttersad: Do you remember if it was sold as the same capacity as the one it replaced?

@Quilly it sucks, but look at it this way; now you already know how to replace a phone battery once you find a new one! Out of curiosity, I don't remember if you mentioned what phone you have?

Man, I've been out of it for a bit! Server migration is currently ongoing, got the domains staged and ready for the cutover, I just wish I'd not managed to set it up to do a migration/upgrade/server move all at once. Good job me.

okay, so, even if I'm late as heck, we're on 4.1.13. Tomorrow, I move the instance the the new server forklift style, then things get hairy. Steps after that are move to 4.2 branch and break out the db/redis/elasticsearch to their own compose setups, and then move to glitch-soc from mainline mastodon.Backups backups backups backups backups. the forklift migration is basically a live test of my disaster recovery, and I'm sure I'll need more than one restore along the way.But now, sleep.

It looks like I can change from mastodon.is-a.horse to just is-a.horse by having the main domain just point at mastodon directly, instead of doing the "fun" nginx redirecting stuff for certs/webfinger, now that this is definitively the main use for the domain.I'm guessing things will explode if I were to remove the mastodon subdomain, but aside from that, does anyone know if there's some other hidden problems I'm not seeing?#fediadmin #mastoadmin

@BeAware Yeah, I'm pretty sure everything dies if I heck up the mastodon subdomain, but from a frontend perspective it looks like the user side of things will work / is working without the additional redirect? All the federation is still happening on the subdomain, but I'm wondering if there's a hidden snag of the users using the frontend on the main is-a.horse domain?Federation hasn't broken (yet?) with the main domain pointing directly at mastodon for the users, so I'm hopeful.

I've got seemingly random complete hard crashes that go straight to a reboot in linux, and they don't leave any hint in the logs as to what might be causing the problem. All the threads that seem similar to my symptoms are from 6 or 7 years ago. These crashes also don't ever seem to occur on windows. Not once have I had my pc decide to nope out on me like that before I tried to go linux full time. How in the world do I narrow it down when it never gets a chance to log it?Please help?#linux

To be clear, I don't *want* to go back to windows, but I can't afford to start replacing bits and pieces in the hopes that it might fix things, and windows isn't dumping me out several times a day when I'm trying to play games.

The most "useful" log message I've managed to pull so far is a segfault in my browser right before everything goes black, but I hesitate to blame the browser for being able to hard down a system like that

@Zergling_man using lynx for YouTube in the terminal would be a hell of a thing :pearbutterlaugh: Semi annoyingly, it *does* look like the browser after a temporary switch from Vivaldi to Firefox. Not happy about it but I can at least use the computer while trying to get enough together for a proper bug report.

@foone I was briefly concerned, but it turns out older group buy boards from the bad old days are just about in that range. The Cannonkeys satisfaction75's first run was 7.76usd/key before shipping, switches, and keycaps! :pearbutterlaugh:
