       @stux The Guardian estimates that Qatar spent $200 million in the bid to get the World Cup. Australia, by comparison, spent $42.7 million on its bid; the US spent less than $5 million. England $24 million.How do they spend this money? Well they must convice the leadership of six regional confederations into which the world is divided: Africa, Asia, Europe, North & Central America, Oceania and South America.FIFA will need new rules after this World Cup to avoid this to happend again.

       @stux well, a company can offer a public service. It depends on how healthy the market is. If a company plays in a free market system with rules and compating with other companies they will offers good prices and quality "public" services as they proffit off of the business.Monopolies and corporatism are symptoms of a sick marketplace as they prefer profits more than quality, fair prices, etc.
