Can’t believe that English Literature degrees at Sheffield Hallam are being “suspended.”This is the outcome when the government says it will will no longer fund degrees where 60% students don’t end up in “highly skilled” jobs within 6 months.Utter travesty.

With much of Europe facing record levels of heat right now it feels like a good time to remind all my trans, nonbinary, and GNC friends:If you take estrogen you are more sensitive to heat and more prone to heatstroke.If you also take an SSRI like Citalopram or Sertraline you are even *more * sensitive.Stay cool and safe, but do NOT stop taking your meds!

Why?Taking long-term medication isn't like an on/off switch, and your heat tolerance would take quite some time to reset.Meanwhile the withdrawal symptoms both from HRT and SSRIs make you quite unwell after a day or two and will make you LESS effective at combatting the heat.TLDR: take your meds, stay safe, and find ways to cool down both yourself and your surroundings.You got this!

I've decided that, for the rest of 2022, I'm not going to charge for voice acting work on any QTIPOC or LGBTQI+ led projects.I do quirky character voices, masc/fem British, American, Scottish, Welsh, or Irish. Drop me a message if there's a project you think I could help with!There are just SO many incredible new animation and game projects are coming from queer creators and people of colour, and the economy is so awful for non-corporate and marginalised creators.

@piggo @amolith the idea that you must always start with TDD is a corporate phallacy IMHO - perpetuated by middle managers who are too afraid of magic code that they can't clearly oversee.The best pace of development and innovation comes from hacking around and then testing/documenting once you're past the MVP and have to think about feature development etc.

It's weird but - I think I tend to feel more pressure to be smart when I post on the fediverse.This is an entirely fictional and self-caused problem, but it's created an unnessecary barrier to me being on here more.Sometimes I just want to shitpost about cool stuff I find or weird things I eat. Or jokes that are only funny in my head.

I also worry that, because the fediverse is split into instances, I'm posting the wrong thing on the wrong one. It's why I left my first fedi home over at scholar.social (though I have so many friends in that community!) and why I worry I'm pissing folk off when I don't always post about digipres stuff on here.
