Clearing out the attic, deciding that after 20 years of teaching I’m unlikely to seek inspiration from my training placement lesson plans.Though I feel slightly sad for the newer teachers of today who’ll never need to draw a reproductive system on an OHP slide. Or in even bigger scale on the blackboard. Would provide picture but it’s already in the bin bag. Was a good detailed diagram mind.#edutooter #teaching #science

Phew, that’s teengirl completed four out of five of her Higher exams and still happy.Just Computing to go, her strongest subject. It’s been fun teaching her class this year for Physics, but extra stressful seeing how each homework lands, directly from the student’s reaction in the house. Latest read - Hyperion by Dan Simmons.I wasn’t sure at points in this book, I enjoyed some of the travellers’ tales more than others, not unexpected with the different styles. But I applaud the structure, having enjoyed Cloud Atlas and On a Winter’s Night a Traveller.Overall, it was well worth the read, the in-story universe was built up over the book, and my sympathies shifted with new information. @ellestad Yes, I picked it up as a SF Masterworks after seeing it mentioned in reviews of A Canticle for Leibowitz, which I recently enjoyed. That book was much more overt in its treatment of religion, particularly Catholicism.So I wasn’t sure what to expect from this, but I found the religious element less dominant, more a strand alongside others. Maybe the sequels build on that.I’ll wait a bit and see if the sequel calls to me, thanks.

Who else out there likes story/ anthology podcasts. I just recently discovered a couple that were new to me.- Midnight Burger - this is one I can see me re-listening to episodes as the humour’s great. Even with 50-ish minute episodes when I normally get bored at anything over 25.- Moonbase Theta, Out.- First season was so easy to listen through, then they got me with the sudden increase in length of episodes.#Podcast #MidnightBurger #MTO #Anthology #SpaceOpera #SciFi

@Heidiknits I love a wrist warmer, so simple and useful.Otherwise amigurumi toys are simple once you’re used to working in the round and there are plenty Christmas/ winter ones like robins/ baubles that are quick to make.
