@RedBard I take a (maybe) stranger view, video games are art because my definition of art is incredibly broad. Most things are art. And then there’s the unexamined (by me anyway) idea that the question itself asks, which is one of quality. Does putting video games into the category of art make them better somehow? It seems some people think so.

@djsundog @pandora_parrot I asked my company to pay for my phone when they told us to forward our desk phones to our personal devices. They told me to not make/take any calls.

an annoying side effect of extending copyright so long is that works just get lost. There's a play I want to read by a well known playwright which was produced in 1918, so is firmly in the public domain, but I can't find evidence that a copy exists anywhere.

I forgot to toot for a while, but while I was gone, I made soap! I’m kind of astounded that the process basically boils down to “mix lye with fat in the right amounts” but that’s what it is. I’m pretty proud of it, plus I can say it has no dye or scents (which irritate my partner’s skin.) Need to get a better mold for the next time.

Also my partner told her chiropractor about it, and the chiro didn’t believe her. She thought there must be more to it, and that it wouldn’t involve anything as dangerous as lye.

The current group of people who are refusing to wear masks remind me a lot of the time when I worked at the Apple store and an iOS update changed the dial pad ‘s appearance on the phone app. People came in demanding we roll back their software or for us to search through all our phones in the back for one they could buy that didn’t have the update pre-installed on it. I wonder what those people are up to now?

This is the third day in a row that I’ve been “at work” with literally nothing to do. I’m not complaining about it, and I would feel guilty if I hadn’t been told explicitly that my primary duties are to wait for an assignment to cross my inbox. I don’t even want to be working on this project, so this current state of affairs is just an excuse to watch more movies at my desk.

On a whim I started watching a documentary on the ‘98 Olympics. 98 is the first Winter Olympics I remember, but I don’t remember any of the specifics. Seeing these stories is neat, although there isn’t enough curling yet. Also, one of the speed skaters profiled (17 year old Kristen Holum) retired after the games, went to college for art, and eventually became a nun. Sports are weird.

We unlocked our first two classes (lightning bolts and triangles) and I think I was unprepared for how to play such a different kind of character. The whole party dynamic is different, and it’s going to take a couple sessions to get used to it.
