       A study published in the journal Psychopharmacology, Smith compared reaction times in cold sufferers to getting 200 milligrams of ibuprofen combined with 100 milligrams of caffeine; ibuprofen or caffeine alone; or a placebo. Out of the four conditions, the ibuprofen-caffeine group showed the biggest improvement in reaction times.Caffeine not only increases mental alertness, but also amplifies the anti-inflammatory effects of the ibuprofen.I concur.

       @lostintimeNL It was common practice in many parts of the world, for 'mental-health patients' to be bound and held in cold water baths and the sounds of their feet banging in the tub would echo through the building as they tried to keep warm. I don't know if this was the purpose here, but the plumbing seems set-up for it. Used well into the 1920'-1930's in some places.
