@aral Usually people who claim to care about free software report issues on bug trackers and with a polite tone, they don't shout at 43.5K people with a snarky tone. There's people behind this code, volunteers on their free time in this specific case actually, it doesn't come out of nowhere. Stop shiting on them, buy a stress ball, and check your privileges.

While free software can be used to hurt social struggles, while malware can be released under a free license, and while capitalists and fascists attack OSM and Wikipedia, the free software and free culture principles are still sine qua non conditions to build intangible commons and to develop emancipatory projects. Free licenses aren't enough, but throwing them away isn't the solution as they allow developing commons here and now, they are prefiguration in practice.

@cstross @jimmac @archenemy I'm pretty certain Jakub isn't complaining about the existence of large phones, but about the disappearance of small ones. Even medium-sized phones don't exist anymore, and since many years now your only options for new smartphones are large or very large ones.

@cstross @jimmac @archenemy A side effect of that is that now everything is designed for large form-factors, so if you need something larger to see correctly, you have no choice but to get a gigantic device that isn't even pocketable at this point, or you'll have very broken layouts. It wouldn't happen if smaller devices still exist and had to be designed for.

@kyle From the point of view of speakers who don't use their vocal cords for a reason or another, but could still present using some sign language (optionally with an interpret), a speech synthesizer, or simply just text (optionally with someone reading it aloud). In French we use words similar to "presentation" and "presenter", and I don't know English nor this side of the disabled struggles to know about this specific question.
