       My son has been working on small #GameDev projects and just yesterday decided he wanted to do his own music and asked about the wonderful #lmms -- he loves #chiptune 8-bit sounds and this morning sent me a track that sounded like a boss fight from #nes days.He's interested in sharing (having the #creativecommons talk!!!)        Any #icon or #design or #ui people know of any studies related to recognition of the below icon-types by different age ranges? In general I'm looking for the concept of "Where" or "Location" via the invocation of a "Map". If there's a recognition study or something I'd love to read it. In the meantime, a poll will follow asking for which most says "location" to you.

       @aral @petit_suisse Also very interested in the review specifically of the pen and drawing. My daughter loves #krita so much and is very much interested in finding something that would work well! We're at the beginning of our search.

       I've just received word that my beloved #printer (a Brother HL-2140) has apparently succumb to years and years of use.This was a B&W only printer that served me well through much of grad school and into general use with kids. I'm very interested in good recommendations for printers (or resources I should trust). Has to be #linux compatible and as little enshittification as possible: DRM-free cartridges; will print in black if color (not required) is out, etc.Anyone know of anything good?

       Today I learned how relatively simple the internals of a clothes dryer machine are by replacing a worn down wheel that fixed the entire issue for ~$20. A minor victory for which I am thankful.

       @kyle I'm still in the camp that believes that humans will, out of necessity and spite, evolve new storytelling styles, structures, and genres (as we often have before).
