"I am stunned that Professor John Edmunds’ revelation at #CovidInquiry this week that much of the loss of 20,000-25,000 lives in Autumn 2020 could have been avoided if Boris Johnson had listened to scientific advice is NOT headline news and front cover of every news outlet in UK." Dr Zubaida Haque on Twitter today. Yes indeed. A deliberate policy of not listening to scientific advice, sacking those who didn't say what gov wanted, and being totally complicit in a deliberate death scheme.

@StillIRise1963 I believe there is a given percentage of any population that is prone to believing a certain set of behaviours/speeches...and those who know this profit from it big time by knowing how to appeal to that contingent and gain power, not only over them, but over the course of the dialogue in any country. If only that propensity in people could be hooked into a truly liberating and progressive humane positive thing eh?

@EU_Commission Truly ironic that orange was chosen to represent women and girls when it's main connotation is with Trump....

@harriettmb He was elected via a democratic process, that's what democracy does, it gets people elected.

@soc_i_ety Too stupid to understand science, unless it's petro-geologists.

@breadandcircuses Yebbut, you're a bloke. Women, young and old and all in between, don't feel so safe on public transport, walking the streets alone nor even using a bike.

@kjetil_kilhavn This is a sensible and doable option, although I've reduced fish intake due to overfishing, farmed fish and polluted seas.

It's disappointing and worrying to realise there are some people trawling carefully through all my posts looking for something to report, as I've discovered this morning. We are all equal, but some are most definately much more 'equal' than others. I'm feeling like a second-class citizen, but maybe I was always considered to be one anyway and should just suck it up and enjoy being near the bottom of the pile?

@stefano Years ago, probably back in the 1970s my dad talked about "built-in obsolescence" and how it was a big scam. I saw then why their very old cooker and fridge kept going perfectly well for years and years and why dad knew how to fix and mend so many things back then.

@pvonhellermannn I think it's just a matter of which instance you're on, it seems random...universodon is almost exclusively US and it's quite hard to find other stuff unless you search about for non US people to follow.

There was a post up on here a couple of days ago about a competition to write a short story 1K words or so, from an alien's point of view. Winners will be published in the magazine. I bookmarked the post so's I can send mine in. I've not stopped thinking about how I'd write this since then and have come up with something I personally find very creepy. I go through phases of reading sci-fi and fantasy and most of it bores the socks off me for many reasons. Tedious writing styles, boring backgrounds, uninteresting characters, predictable preachiness, lack of any real imagination or anything remotely 'new'. Almost as if it were written by using AI...a gloopy soup. Anyway, the notion I've come up with I haven't ever read anything ressembling it, so it'll be interesting to see what happens.
