@dredstrauss Yes, but let's say I like Open Source, but also, let's say, drugs, which may be against the rules of an Open Source instance.Currently, on the #birdsite, it's all messed up and you have to build your follower base. Here you can post on both instances, but it would be perfect if we could somehow join the accounts :) Like in Stack Exchange for example.Maybe we have something like that over time.

@mike Do you have that opinion because you accidentally overwrote the other, noncontroversial opinion? 😂

@eiaine I don't think it is ever going to be possible in a city that one single salary can maintain a family. The cost of the house is going to be always high due to lack of space. Unless you forbid to work to either one gender; or one of the spouses (at their choosing), rent or mortgage is always going to take an almost full salary. We need multicore cities (single-core cities do not scale, just like processors).

@eiaine It was a single person. Teams can't beat geniuses on something like this. And geniuses capable to do this are probably not working for the CIA as I think that kind of work kills creativity.

@fatboy They probably don't have the size to do that. You either ship Android with little R&D or charge a lot of money for less features.

@eiaine In Europe something is going on. Lots of millions. But seeing how government money is used, at least in Spain, I wish they don invest a single cent. There is only one thing worse than not having money: having a lot of money going to the wrong hands. The industry becomes poisoned.

@kev 3 pin == no speed control. There is one for rpm reporting + 12V and GND. The speed control comes with a fourth pin.

@wizzwizz4 The problem is there is a rule that says "small allocations never fail". A lot of programs follow it and either they are unable to handle the null pointer or the handling code is untested (therefore, broken).

@wizzwizz4 The simple solution to the problem described in your link is to make allocations fail*. But the rule of "small allocations never fail" makes this problem as there are a lot of programs that don't expect this. The article explains it and is the problem that I was pointing out (In fact, I was talking about that very article). There is also a problem with overcommitting memory.

Does anyone know an Open Source split keyboard for #Android tablets?Ideally I would love to have a fork of #hackerskeyboard, with a split layout so I can type without stretching my fingers.

@mansr @rostedt Looks like a good target for a rust rewrite at some point (when Rust is ready, TTI is critical).

@mansr @rostedt Yes of course! But rewriting is usually a bad idea. Unless you are aiming to get some benefits that can't be achieved by refactoring.

@mansr @rostedt No but that is the problem: how do you get a spec out of a monstruosity so you can do a rewrite? It is a hard thing to do and chances are you might end up making another monstruosity as you start discovering the edge cases that originated the monstruosity on the first place 😂
