@futurebird Yup. Haven’t thought much about mites since my undergraduate thesis, on oribatid mites in forest soils. Basically there’s an enormous number of mites in every cupful of soil, only very roughly classified, doing nobody knows exactly what for the soil ecosystem. We know next to nothing about them, and we’re not going to know much more soon, or probably ever, because soil is opaque and mites are tiny. Limits of human knowledge etc.
