Sometimes I feel like a hamster trapped in a box and running on a wheel to nowhere. Then I remember that hamsters get free food and water, have somebody else to do the housework and don’t have people demanding things of them on 4 different apps on 3 different devices, and they also get plenty of time to sleep and workout.

@jazzilla so you are saying it’s not “The Jews” it’s “Those Jews in particular”?

@newman the difficult part has never been the code. The difficult part is understanding how things work while also being able to convince other people how they should work.

@freemayonnaise sometimes I think these people might be mentally ill. Then I see stuff like this and I no longer have to wonder.

You know a few years ago them closing the office meant a free day off, now it means “Work from home like you said you wanted to serf!”, not an improvement.

@MSP_SMIMSA I own a handful of swords, why? Because I want to!

Pulling out your firearm flags you for PVP. Results of this action can be swift, and not the outcome you intended.

@MSP_SMIMSA I think swords hold a certain mystique, mostly because they were developed and designed specifically for fighting other humans. Most other weapons are adapted from some other implement designed for another purpose, usually hunting or farming. The purpose of a sword is crystal clear. Also I just like them. If I was forced to pick the most effective weapon though… it’s probably a spear paired with a s shield.

Been running CachyOS on all machines at the house for a couple weeks now.I don’t think I’m going back. After many attempts I think I’m officially a Linux desktop person. If I did migrate at this point it would be to check out a differnt distro.

I was recently reminded of some of the best advice I have ever heard for doing technical work in a large organization.“Nobody wants to hear about the details, just show them the baby.”Talk technical details in private with the people responsible for navigating them, not in meetings with a mixed audience. In meetings just shut up and say “We can handle it.” Nobody cares how smart you are, only that when they hand you a problem the problem disappears.

@justinerickson yes if you need to decide between a few options and there are defined trade-offs, you will have to explain some…But you should keep that to a minimum, and if possible get all the technical people aligned before the meeting starts.
