Bought an old HP 10G SFP+ network adapter and a 8x 10GBase-T PoE switch with 4xSFP+. My home network is gonna be so fast. Too bad my server has HDDs as storage, so I probably won't notice much of a difference until I upgrade 56TiB of HDDs to SSDs.

Anyone here has ever replaced the fans with quieter ones in a rack mount network switch? I bought a 10G switch but it's a little too loud for my home, as I do not have a separate room for networking equipment, so I am curious if anyone here has any experience with this.

I wanted to run a matrix server, but while trying to choose a server implementation I ended up stumbling upon lots of drama between the developers of different forks. I ended up reading about that drama for hours instead of setting up a matrix server. In fact I still do not know which server implementation I want to use.

Also I sent a request for the GPL source code of my new 10GBit PoE++ switch, they replied saying they want the serial number, which I provided. If I get the sources I will maybe try porting OpenWrt to it.

LOL, I found a bottle of disinfectant probably from the covid days and disinfected pretty much every surface in the department. Coworker came back and did not like the smell. I went back to the other department for a while and just now came back and the bottle is gone. She either hid it or threw it away.
