@ehhh @LoliHat @beardalaxy @irie Note that Nue's form is not subject to interpretation, she's an unknown but she's the one who controls the form she appears in (not to say she couldn't transform to your thoughts, more that she doesn't really care to). Less of a situation where if you look at her in a specific way she'll become what you fear and more of a situation where you're basically staring at a walking blur filter. Or y'know she could pull the joke she likes to and show up as a glowing alien ball or a grey again.

@Groomschild People use Sanae a lot for this joke but they kinda miss the point of the original image. Mountain of Faith happens in 2007 (outside world time, Gensokyo is different but that's besides the point). Point is that for her, the question is a form of reality as she doesn't have any idea what has come out since she left. This image gets a slight bit of a pass for at least trying to match year, but MoF beat out Halo 3 by a whole month. The Moriya Shrine was already there for a bit before the events of the game too. I doubt anyone with access to the outside world was importing a copy. Maybe Sumireko. She's kinda weird. Not that any of this matters, the meme has left the context behind long ago and thus for most the meme is what matters.

Touhou info dump time, because this bugs me. In chapters 22 and 23 of Cheating Detective Satori, we see that Hatate has a computer with a printer that she likely operates with thoughtography. Aside from the fact that both chapters correlate Hatate being really small (she's even shorter than Satori and barely fits in her chair), there's a weird thing that happens between the two chapters. The author gets lazy. Really lazy. Chapter 22, as seen in the first two screenshots, always has her computer where it should be. 23 only has it for one shot where it is barely visible behind Hatate twirling in her chair. After that, every shot has no computer drawn, visible in the last two screenshots.

@Minty @leespringfield1903 Honestly the resets are a flaw of the comic book industry not wanting to make books. They want to make collectables. Remember when Superman #1 sold for an absurd amount of money? What if our new comic did that? We need to keep selling as individual books so we can have a speculative market open up. Never mind the fact that this means there's no easy starting place and getting into a comic is probably more complex than building a computer from scratch. If you live in Japan, you can just buy a magazine that you know will have the next chapter of the manga you like. Outside of that, there's online options that all offer the weekly, monthly, etc release format. These all get neatly collected in volumes and provided the author hasn't decided to go full Nomura on ordering things, you can just read from start to finish by checking out everything in order. Want a comic? Go to your local comic book shop and buy an individual $5 tiny ass maybe 30 pages at most chapter. It may or may not be the next one in the series depending on what the fags making it decided to do this week. Volume collections of series proper are rare and often take a while to even happen, if they do.

@bleedingphoenix Cirno is cold in appearance (and whenever she's trying to freeze you) only, she's a very warm girl. It seems like for all the frivolity fairies are keen towards she'd also be extremely simple, though she's anything but. A girl who puts her all into everything she does, who will never give up when things get rough, who cares enough for others to try to befriend all she can. She may not be the strongest fairy in terms of raw power, however she's definitely the closest to going beyond fairyhood. Not that she'd do such a thing. Leaving Dai behind or giving up her chances to keep fighting the red-white or black-white would be boring.

@supersid333 @bleedingphoenix I think she persists because of how special an interpretation it all is. It really stands out for being silly, over the top, but also loving and full of the care you'd want from a doujin series like this. It is also one of the first to try building an entirely different Gensokyo, starting release in 2006. It has a lot going for it. Including everyone's favorite, being on eternal hiatus and leaving everyone without anything to go from. For one last point, it's also a doujin that tangentially may have gotten the author a proper job as a mangaka, as Yumekui Merry would start in 2008. Or for a real last point, she just looks cool. Maybe you don't need anything more than that.
