@retdoc Good article. Thank you for listing the statistics. They're only good in comparison to other stats, to put it in overall perspective, and while I've heard bits and pieces, I haven't seen them all together.

@EngOnDemand Saw an idiot neighbor after the Northridge earthquake of 1994 going around in the dark (4:30 am) checking things out with a lit candle - EVERYONE'S water heaters had tipped over and the gas lines sheared. What an idiot! Which others told him quite bluntly, LOL.

@Seedsaver Saw an old (70+) rancher at the vet's once & listened in as he told the vet about his horse rolling on him while out rounding up cattle & breaking his hip. Rancher crawled back up on his horse, rode back to the rig, crawled into the pickup bed while buddies loaded the horses, and was finally driven to town to see a doctor. No calling 9-1-1 for him! They still make 'em tough. Just not in cities.
