I come from the weird year 1979. The trailing days of Generation X. @stefano I have a "server" on an internal network that is an older model Samsung phone running an Ubuntu instance via the Userland app. Turns out, they have plenty of horsepower to run a pseudo-VM.Secure... I don't know, so let's assume not at all. But it makes me happy to think of it as a really cool tiny computer instead of just a crappy old phone.

I was once in a pretty dark place. Specifically, a truck stop bathroom stall with two light panels on the fritz, somewhere near Chaco Canyon. I had eaten Taco Bell about 160 miles back y no estaba bien.Much too late, I realized there was no T.P. ... I keep wondering how people's memory of Trump's presidency can be positive. To me it was all madness and chaos and fear for the world and the country. I'm thinking part of it is as simple as this: during Trump's presidency a lot of us took a year off for COVID. We got some stimulus checks. ... Things weren't easy with the pandemic and people dying left and right, but there was less working and many people were reintroduced to their families..."Good" times? #politics

Kindly boost for visibility!A friend worked in printer/plotter service for a long time. He picked up 3D printing, 3D design, and Photoshop stuff as a hobby. He made the designs for these lightsabers for himself, printed them, painted them - There's no metal in this picture. He's at loose ends, mid-life, and wants to change careers. Big Time movie buff. I love that the right is going with "Harris the radical liberal" because it is going to flop. I think there are fair arguments to be made that the Biden/Harris administration have made progress on rights, inequality, climate... but also that it only moved them from center-right toward center. It's still a growth-centric, market-centric vision of America. That's still mainstream (perhaps not on fediverse). Un-radical. Mostly pre-Trump status quo policies, really.#USpol #politics

#CNN should acknowledge that every time they let a GOP politician on air they are engaging in propaganda, not "news", for the simple reason that their anchors are too passive to respond in real-time to the stream of lies and misdirection that is highly-refined GOP talking points. compare: #UK hostsThey simply walk over the host, give a great GOP propaganda performance, and leave smiling, with the public having been provided with no real context or counterpoints to the lies. #journalism

@futurebird I'm following this saga through various prediction markets for a gig. There is some expectation of action when Congress returns Sept. 3. I read some right-wing substacks and such as research (do not recommend!), and apparently the MAGA base, or more relevant to Epstein, the "Q" cult, is still pretty pissed and lawmakers are hearing about it.So there's some reason to be guardedly optimistic there will be movement and attention on this again.
