@Charganium I've been out of college for 15 years now (studied, among other things, sociology). Back then "some go as far as to claim biological sex doesn't exist" was treated as an interesting bit of obscure data - and look at us now.

@Charganium I'm lucky enough to live in a place where this madness hasn't gone far yet. We have a few old school transsexuals (and they're actually really cool), but any mention of the new gender world results in people cracking jokes. So far so good. Trouble is, if this spreads in England, and Canada, and the US, and more, it will reach us too (and since I've become vigilant about this topic, I've noticed the attempts to hijack the language and the narrative).

I wasn't banned from Twitter (yet?), but I've had a couple of incidents where, after answering one of Graham's questions, I was piled on with objections and threats by people with fursonas in their avatars and pronouns in their bio. I find that really funny for some reason.

@Bod Oh? That's interesting. My experience is the opposite and I've gone through that rebel teenage phase where we had to occasionally run from the police (at least we thought we were running from the police, now with adult eyes I doubt they actually ever seriously chased us for that little bit of weed).

@Bajer See, that's what I thought, but it doesn't make sense with them. Take the punk movement, for example. It made sense with them, because when something didn't go their way, the punks didn't run to the police and cried how evil the world is for not liking their hairdos. The trans, on the other hand, seem to rely on the law being on their side quite a bit.

@Somethings_Not_Right @Glinner I used to not care about furries at conventions - people are cosplaying all the time and that just seemed another set of masks.Now my gut reaction to them is eeeww, don't touch my merchandise unless you disinfect your "paws" here and now.Talking to other vendors, most feel the same.

She* tried to goad me into admitting something I haven't said (nor meant) so she could report me. As if her actions weren't obvious. She failed, so she blocked me. She was such a trainwreck that I honestly hope she's gotten help.*I normally use preferred pronouns for people who at least put in some effort to look & present feminine (and who don't act too aggressive, which is rare), although I don't believe they're their desired sex. I know some of you don't like that, but that's just how I roll.

The J.K. Rowling Twitter news have reached my part of the world (we're late as always) and I'm happy to say all the comments in the national left-centre newspaper were, as our gender confused friends would say, transphobic. As in, they were sane, none of them hateful in any way, just generally surprised, confused and supportive to JK and Maya F.
