@Ladyfat @Tania , just once, I'd like to see this conversation move towards addressing the behavior that caused this newest woman to be tagged with the name that you're upset about. Just once.Because a lot of Black people deal with white women who perpetuate the abovementioned behavior-- on a daily basis! How would you prefer that the public at large refer to these white women?

@Ladyfat @Tania , it would be nice if Black folks received the same courtesy-- but that has never happened. I understand your frustration, but as someone who can count on being called a Nigger Bitch at least once a year-- I'm having a bit of difficulty being particularly sympathetic. I understand where you're coming from, and I'm not saying that all white women are like this-- but again-- this is such a frequent occurrence that it's become a cliche. Hence "Karen".

So, over the last few days, I've been talking to relatives.All of them are worried, anxious-- none of them are protesting, but we are all keeping a weather eye on the chaos, hoping that things don't get even worse for Black people in this country. It was enlightening talking to a couple of my older relatives. One, in his 80's, said that "Nothing has really changed. We've been fighting the same battle for 400 years." Another one said, "I just don't understand the hate." An uncle spoke of the riots in the '60s and '70s, warning me not to leave the house. He also spoke of the time he'd visited a church that had been bombed in the early '70s, killing four little Black girls. My white friends alternate between outrage on the behalf of Black people and shame and more outrage at the actions of some very bad actors taking part in inciting more violence and destruction during peaceful protests. I end up comforting them, reassuring them, and working very hard to let them know that of course, I don't blame them...This is all quite exhausting.

@meghanmurphy @mk , one of the things I never hear us talking about is how many Black women have *also* been murdered by Police here in the US. There's an organization called "Say Her Name", that tracks those women's deaths. That could be an outlet.
