@KashalotIt's always helpful to the rest of us when an explanation is provided with an unusual photo. I have never seen or heard of these historic wine grottos in southern Italy. I looked it up. Yes cute little hobbit like huts but they were used in wine production. Vats were carved out of the volcanic rock for crushing wine grapes and fermenting the must until the 1960's and were not lived in.

#FloralFancy #18 of an exhibit that never saw the light of day but one I want to share. The theme was painterly images of flowers taken with my camera using a variety of techniques. This image of desert willow tree blossoms was overlaid with a grassy groundcover for added texture. @backpackandsnorkel You are right #MachuPicchu is a magical place and to get there on foot via the #IncaTrail is absolutely life changing and to have been able to do that in my mid 60's was miraculous.

Love mastodon but do have a pet peeve. So many people post photos and info without including where in the world they are or where the photos were taken. This is truly a global community. It's helpful to know where in the world you are.

Visit to Devil's Garden on my Grand Staircase Escalante trip in Utah. Variety of sandstone hoodoos, arches and bizarre spires from the Entrada formation deposited 175 million years ago, Second is Metate Arch and fourth is Mano Arch, background of third is the Straight Cliffs running for 50 miles south to the Colorado River. #Photography #Utah #Geology #Devil's Garden #Hoodoos

@luke It has to be an incredible night photo location. Do you have any shots yet? I got to Devil's Garden after the long drive on Hole-in-the-Rock Rd and also the amazing, scenic road to Harris Wash so it was middle of the day. Late afternoon would have been OK for photography but didn't hang around that long.

There's a good reason why Lower Calf Creek Falls hike is one of the most popular in Grand Staircase Escalante. Besides being relatively easy the 7 mile round trip trail winds its way through a scenic wide canyon following Calf Creek. What's not to love about a beaver pond and wetlands with water birds in the middle of the desert?
